The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting and delivering freight and goods safely and efficiently across designated routes. The role involves operating heavy vehicles, planning delivery routes, loading and unloading goods, securing cargo, completing vehicle inspections and maintaining accurate transport documentation.

The successful applicant will ensure that all deliveries are completed within scheduled timeframes while complying with road transport regulations, workplace health and safety requirements and company operating procedures.

responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for: Driving heavy trucks to transport freight, goods and materials to designated locations safely and efficiently. Planning and following delivery routes while considering traffic conditions, road restrictions and delivery schedules. Inspecting vehicles before, during and after trips to ensure roadworthiness and safe operating conditions.

Checking vehicle components, including tyres, brakes, lights, oil, fuel and other essential systems. Reporting mechanical faults, vehicle defects and maintenance requirements to the relevant supervisor.



Loading and unloading freight and ensuring goods are properly positioned, balanced and secured for transportation.

Verifying delivery documentation, consignment notes and freight details against the goods being transported. Completing delivery schedules, trip sheets, logbooks and other required transport records accurately. Ensuring freight is delivered to the correct destinations within agreed timeframes.

Complying with road transport legislation, driving hours requirements, fatigue management procedures and workplace health and safety standards. Maintaining communication with dispatchers, supervisors and customers regarding delivery progress, delays or other operational issues. Maintaining the cleanliness and general condition of the assigned vehicle.

Following company policies and procedures to ensure reliable, safe and efficient transport operations. Qualification &

experience To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements: A current and valid Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence appropriate for the class of truck being operated. Minimum of 1–3 years of full-time work experience as a Truck Driver or in a similar heavy vehicle driving role. Demonstrated experience in transporting freight, goods or materials safely and efficiently.

Good knowledge of road transport regulations, traffic rules and heavy vehicle safety requirements. Understanding of vehicle inspections, basic maintenance checks and reporting mechanical issues. Ability to safely load,



unload and secure freight in accordance with transport requirements.

Ability to read and understand delivery instructions, transport documentation and route information. Valuable time management skills and the ability to meet delivery schedules. Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

A reliable, responsible and safety-focused approach to work. Ability to meet the physical requirements associated with loading, unloading and handling freight, where required.
