Job description Senior Control Systems Engineer | 8/6 FIFO | Contract An excellent opportunity for a Senior Control Systems Engineer to join an established engineering consultancy and systems integrator supporting a major mining operation in Western Australia.
This is an urgent contract requirement for an experienced senior-level engineer who can hit the ground running, operate independently onsite and provide strong technical support across existing control and automation systems.
The position will initially be a 6-month contract, with potential to extend to 12 months, working an 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth.
The rate is $130 per hour inclusive of superannuation, with an immediate start available.
Role Opportunity We are seeking a highly capable Senior Control Systems Engineer with strong mining or mineral processing experience and the ability to work autonomously in an operational site setting.
You will work across existing control systems, troubleshooting, modifications, engineering support and system improvement activities, with a particular focus on Rockwell PLC and PlantSCADA 8.5 platforms.
Experience with Balance Machines and ACS would be highly regarded.
The role will suit someone technically strong who can quickly understand the client's existing systems, communicate effectively with site stakeholders and contribute from day one.
Benefits $130 per hour inclusive of superannuation Initial 6-month contract Potential extension to 12 months 8 days on / 6 days off FIFO roster from Perth Tuesday or Wednesday fly-out typically Immediate start available Work with a major WA mining operation Established engineering and systems integration business Exposure to complex operational control systems Long-term project pipeline across WA resources Essential Qualifications Skills Senior-level Control Systems Engineering experience Strong experience within mining, mineral processing or heavy industry Rockwell PLC programming and troubleshooting experience PlantSCADA / Citect SCADA experience Strong control systems integration and automation capability Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong fault-finding and problem-solving capability Experience supporting operational plant environments Ability to quickly understand existing control system architecture Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills Comfortable working directly with site personnel and operational teams Ability to work an 8/6 FIFO roster from Perth Strong commitment to site safety and engineering standards Desirable Experience Balance Machine systems experience ACS experience PlantSCADA 8.5 experience Rockwell PLC platform experience Mining and mineral processing plant experience Brownfield control system modifications and upgrades Commissioning and onsite troubleshooting experience Exposure to functional safety systems Experience working with Tier 1 mining operators Duties Responsibilities Provide onsite Control Systems Engineering support Support existing Rockwell PLC and PlantSCADA systems Troubleshoot control system and automation issues Undertake PLC and SCADA modifications as required Support Balance Machine and ACS-related systems Provide technical support to site operations and maintenance teams Investigate and resolve control system faults Assist with system improvements and optimisation Support commissioning and testing activities Review and update relevant control system documentation Liaise with site stakeholders and engineering teams Work autonomously across assigned engineering activities Ensure all work complies with site safety and engineering requirements Our Client Our client is an established Australian engineering consultancy and systems integrator delivering automation, control systems and electrical engineering solutions across the mining, mineral processing, oil gas and renewable energy sectors.
