Barista/Bakery customer service assistant

We are seeking a Barista/Bakery customer service assistant to join the team at Boatshed Market in Cottesloe. This is a casual position offering flexible working arrangements to suit your lifestyle. As a Barista/Bakery customer service assistant, you will be the friendly face of our café and bakery operation, delivering exceptional customer service while preparing quality beverages and assisting with bakery offerings. This role is central to creating a welcoming atmosphere and ensuring our customers have a memorable experience at Boatshed Market, located in the heart of Cottesloe WA 6011.

What you'll be doing

Preparing and serving high-quality espresso-based coffees, teas and other hot and cold beverages

Operating espresso machines and other café equipment with care and proficiency

Providing knowledgeable recommendations to customers about our coffee, tea and bakery selections

Maintaining a clean and hygienic work environment in accordance with food safety standards

Processing customer orders and payments accurately using point-of-sale systems

Assisting with the display, handling and sale of fresh bakery items

Engaging with customers in a friendly and professional manner to build rapport and encourage repeat business

Restocking supplies and ensuring adequate stock levels throughout shifts

Supporting the broader team to maintain smooth operations during peak and quiet periods

What we’re looking for

Prior experience working in a café, restaurant or customer service environment is highly desirable

Barista experience or formal coffee-making qualifications are preferred





Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage positively with diverse customers

Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene

Ability to work efficiently during busy periods whilst remaining calm and organised

A genuine passion for quality beverages and bakery products

Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to adapt to casual shift patterns

Basic numeracy skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems or willingness to learn

Team-oriented approach with a willingness to support colleagues
