This is a rare prospect to open a premium resort from the ground up.

It is the first stage of an ambitious multi-stage master plan, in one of Australia’s most sought-after island destinations.

We are seeking a serious commercial operator. You’ll be a grounded, numbers-led General Manager who knows how to open a resort on time and on budget, and who wants to stay well beyond opening to make it perform. You’ll want to put your name to something significant.

The Resort

- 300+ room, 4.5 star resort, with opening anticipated in 2027
- Stage One of a multi-stage master plan with a long-term growth trajectory
- Operating under a major international brand affiliation
- Backed by an engaged, hands-on ownership group with a long-term vision
- A predominantly live-in team, with island logistics central to the operation

The Role

You will take full leadership of the resort through pre-opening and beyond, including:

- Leading the full pre-opening program and delivering the opening on time and on budget
- Recruiting and building the executive committee, starting with sales and marketing, people and culture, and finance leadership
- Full P&L; accountability: RevPAR, GOP, labour cost, margins and revenue optimisation
- Managing island staffing, live-in accommodation and award wage costs
- Managing the owner and brand relationships with data and diplomacy
- Setting service standards and guest experience, and building a strong culture from day one
- Using systems,



technology and AI to drive efficiency across the operation
- Recruitment, training, mentoring and succession planning to build future leaders

This role starts off-site during pre-opening before moving on-site ahead of opening. You will set the tone, drive the standard and build accountability into the business from the start.

About You

- 15+ years in hotels and resorts, with at least 3–5 years at General Manager or Resort Manager level
- Island or remote resort experience, with a real understanding of logistics, live-in staffing and award wage costs
- A strong commercial track record, with the numbers to back it up
- At least one pre-opening or major repositioning, having stayed on to stabilise the business
- Experience working closely with a hands-on owner, ideally in a franchised or owner-led model;
- A genuine interest in technology and AI to drive efficiency
- International brand experience is an advantage but not essential
- Grounded, ego-free and calm under pressure
- Willing to live on-site long term, with partner or family fully on board where relevant
