As we continue to grow, we're seeking an experienced Estimating Lead with a strong background in water infrastructure to take ownership of our estimating and tendering function.

We're looking for someone who brings more than general civil construction estimating experience. You'll have a proven track record of personally preparing and pricing water infrastructure tenders, understand the technical and commercial complexities of these projects, and be confident leading tenders from initial review through to submission.

Experience preparing tenders for Water Corporation WA or comparable Australian water authorities will be highly regarded.

This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for an experienced estimator who enjoys both the technical detail of pricing projects and the commercial responsibility of securing profitable work.

About the Role

You'll take ownership of Saltire's estimating and tendering activities, with a particular focus on water infrastructure projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Prepare, develop and review detailed first-principles estimates for water and associated civil infrastructure projects

- Lead tender submissions from initial assessment through to final pricing and submission

- Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and technical documentation

- Undertake quantity take-offs, build-ups, productivity calculations and cost assessments

- Price labour, plant, materials, subcontractor packages and construction methodologies

- Identify project-specific risks, opportunities, exclusions and commercial considerations

- Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations

- Develop competitive pricing strategies while protecting project margins

- Lead tender reviews and present recommendations to senior management

- Work closely with project delivery teams to validate construction methodologies and project costs

- Coordinate tender handovers following successful project awards

- Improve estimating tools, processes, cost databases and reporting

- Mentor and support other estimators as the business grows

What We're Looking For

Essential experience and capabilities:

- Demonstrated experience estimating water infrastructure construction projects for a contractor





- Strong hands-on experience preparing detailed first-principles estimates and competitive tender submissions

- Proven ability to personally price and manage complex infrastructure tenders

- Sound understanding of water infrastructure construction methodologies, project costs and delivery risks

- Experience preparing quantity take-offs, cost build-ups and subcontractor pricing assessments

- Strong commercial understanding, attention to detail and ability to work to tender deadlines

- Ability to lead the estimating process and work collaboratively with operational and management teams

Highly Desirable:

- Experience preparing and submitting tenders for Water Corporation WA, or equivalent Australian water authorities or utilities

- Experience pricing water pipelines, water and wastewater infrastructure, pipeline renewals, pump stations or associated civil works

- Familiarity with water authority specifications, standards, tender documentation and procurement requirements

- Experience leading or mentoring estimators

- Experience improving estimating systems, processes and commercial outcomes
