VR GPs | Urgent Care Summer Shifts
Summer is a busy time at our Maitland Urgent Care clinic, and we’re looking for GPs to help out over the holidays, from December through January. Maybe you’d like a few extra shifts, a short block of work, or you’re happy to pick up a public holiday or two. Either way, this one’s worth a read.
So, what’s it like?
You’ll be working in a structured clinical environment with established protocols, alongside ED-trained nurses and dedicated admin support. The systems are good, the team is collaborative, and the setup lets you focus on what matters: looking after patients.
On any given shift, you might see:
- Acute illness and injury presentations
- Minor procedures and wound management
- Same-day urgent assessments
- Management of urgent, non-life-threatening presentations
Summer is when the community needs us most. You’ll be helping people over the holidays and taking pressure off the local ED when it’s at its busiest.
Here’s what you get
- No overnight or on-call shifts
- Versatile summer shifts: pick the days that suit you, any day of the week
- Christmas, New Year and Australia Day shifts available
- No lock-in or exclusivity arrangements
- Dedicated ED-trained nursing and administrative support
- Professional development opportunities
Summer in Maitland?
Maitland is the doorstep to the Hunter Valley wine region, and summer is a great time to be there. Work a few shifts, then spend your day off exploring the vineyards and restaurants or heading off for a weekend escape. It’s a family-friendly community with quality schools, parks and a strong sense of local identity, so it’s an easy place to spend part of your summer, or maybe more. You get the rural lifestyle without giving up the urgent care casemix or professional support.
Sound like you?
You’ll need:
- Current, unrestricted AHPRA Specialist Registration (VR GP)
- Current ALS certification (1 or 2)
- ED, Rural VMO or Urgent Care experience
- Demonstrated clinical competency in urgent care settings
Next Steps
No pressure and completely confidential. Let me know your summer availability, apply now, or get in touch and I’ll tell you more.
