The opportunity
Recruitment Expert is partnering with an established boutique accounting practice in Bondi Junction to recruit an Accountant or Senior Accountant.
This role offers autonomy, direct client relationships and the support of experienced colleagues. You will join a small team where everyone manages their own portfolio and works collaboratively to deliver quality accounting and taxation services.
The client base includes medical professionals, high-net-worth individuals and property investors, providing opportunities to develop lasting relationships and broaden your technical experience.
Your role
Reporting directly to the Principal, you will take responsibility for an allocated portfolio, primarily comprising individuals and sole traders, alongside SMSFs and some company and trust work.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing individual and sole trader tax returns and accounts.
- Preparing financial statements and tax returns for companies and trusts as required.
- Completing SMSF accounts, annual returns and supporting compliance documentation.
- Liaising with external SMSF auditors and responding to queries.
- Reviewing financial records, reconciling accounts and preparing workpapers.
- Communicating directly with clients to obtain information and resolve queries.
- Managing your workload and meeting deadlines.
- Identifying technical issues and seeking guidance when needed.
About you
You will bring approximately three to four years of public practice accounting experience, sound technical foundations and the ability to complete routine work independently.
You will also have:
- Experience preparing individual and sole trader tax returns.
- Strong attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work.
- Clear communication skills and confidence dealing with clients.
- A willingness to learn and expand your accounting knowledge.
- A collaborative approach and an interest in a long-term opportunity.
CA or CPA qualification is not essential. Practical capability, relevant experience and skilled integrity are valued.
Previous SMSF experience is advantageous but not essential. Candidates with strong accounting fundamentals and a willingness to learn will be considered.
