GOW Recruitment is partnering with a leading Australian organisation to appoint an experienced Regulatory/ Consumer focused legal counsel. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded lawyer to join an established in-house legal team, providing practical legal advice across consumer protection, advertising, marketing, product development and regulatory matters.
Working closely with product, marketing and commercial stakeholders, you'll play a key role in supporting new initiatives, managing consumer regulatory risk and enabling commercially focused business decisions.
The Role
Provide legal advice on Australian Consumer Law (ACL), consumer protection legislation and related regulatory obligations.
Advise on advertising, promotional campaigns, marketing claims and customer communications.
Support product development, new product launches, pricing initiatives and go-to-market strategies.
Provide advice on misleading or deceptive conduct, unfair contract terms and consumer guarantees.
Identify and manage regulatory risks across customer-facing products and services.
Draft, review and negotiate commercial agreements and customer-facing terms and conditions.




Partner with internal stakeholders to deliver practical, commercially focused legal solutions.
Support regulatory matters and engagement with relevant regulators, including the ACCC, where required.
About You
We're interested in speaking with lawyers who offer:
Approximately 5+ years' post-admission experience, with flexibility for the right background.
Strong knowledge of Australian Consumer Law and consumer protection regulation.
Experience advising on advertising, marketing, customer communications or product-related matters.
A background in a highly regulated, consumer-facing industry such as financial services, telecommunications, technology, retail, FMCG or aviation.
Solid commercial judgement and the ability to work autonomously with business stakeholders.
Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
Experience gained within a leading commercial law firm, particularly in competition and consumer law, regulatory or commercial advisory, will be highly regarded.
