As we move into the next wave of cutting-edge work, we’re seeking a Fabrication Quality Controller to join our Queanbeyan workshop. This is an opportunity to contribute to projects of national significance while developing your skills in a supportive team setting.

About the role

Reporting to the Fabrication Manager, you’ll inspect every welded component produced in the workshop to ensure it meets the required specifications, drawings and quality standards before moving to the next stage of production.

No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided. Experience in welding, fabrication or quality control will be highly regarded. Most importantly, you’ll have exceptional attention to detail.

Your work will include:

- Inspecting every welded piece for compliance with specifications, tolerances and finish requirements
- Identifying and documenting defects and non‑conformances clearly and accurately
- Completing QC checklists, reports and non‑conformance records
- Working with welders and production staff to raise issues and support corrective actions
- Taking part in internal and external QA audits
- Keeping accurate records and providing daily updates to your supervisor
- Following WHSEQ requirements and reporting hazards, incidents and near misses

What you’ll bring

Essential:

- Exceptional attention to detail and a consistent,



methodical approach
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team
- Willingness to learn weld inspection, technical drawings, weld symbols and specifications
- Willingness to undergo a pre‑employment medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing)

Desirable

- Certificate III in Engineering (Fabrication), Boilermaking/Welding
- White Card, Silica Awareness and Asbestos Awareness certifications
- Experience in welding, fabrication or a workshop environment
- Experience in a quality control or quality assurance role
