Know the trade. Support the team. Keep our customers moving.

We're looking for an experienced Trade Support Team Member who understands the building and construction industry, enjoys working with trade customers and knows how to keep things running smoothly in a busy trade environment.

This is a varied, hands-on position combining trade counter sales, customer service, administration and sales support. You'll work closely with Sales, warehouse and despatch teams to ensure customer enquiries, quotations, orders and deliveries are managed accurately and efficiently.

We're looking for someone who brings practical industry knowledge, strong systems capability and a proactive approach to getting things done.

About the Role

Working within an established Western Australian building supplies business, you'll play an important role in supporting trade customers and the broader sales team.

From preparing quotations and processing orders to assisting customers at the trade counter, you'll help ensure our customers receive reliable, efficient and knowledgeable service.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Provide qualified, knowledgeable and efficient service to trade and retail customers.

Build and maintain positive relationships with builders, contractors and trade account customers.

Provide accurate product advice across building materials, timber, hardware and associated products.

Respond promptly to customer enquiries via telephone, email and face-to-face interactions.

Resolve customer queries and complaints professionally, taking ownership through to resolution.

Quoting, Orders & Administration

Prepare accurate customer quotations, including product specifications, quantities and pricing.

Follow up quotations and assist in converting enquiries into sales.

Process customer orders accurately and efficiently using an ERP system.

Check product pricing, stock availability and order details.

Provide general administrative support to the Trade Sales team.

Maintain accurate customer records, sales documentation and transaction details.

Liaise with suppliers and internal teams to resolve product and order enquiries.

Delivery Coordination & Operations

Arrange and coordinate customer deliveries, including site deliveries, in consultation with despatch and transport teams.

Communicate delivery requirements,

site access details and customer instructions accurately.

Liaise with warehouse and despatch teams to ensure orders are picked, prepared and ready for collection or delivery.

Assist with customer collections, order picking and stock replenishment when required.

Work collaboratively across the business to ensure smooth daily operations and minimise service disruptions.

Sales Transactions & Cash Handling

Accurately process EFTPOS, cash and customer account transactions.

Manage cash handling, receipts and daily reconciliation procedures.

Follow established financial controls and transaction processes.

Assist with resolving payment, pricing and customer account enquiries.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who can confidently step into a busy trade environment, manage competing priorities and make a positive contribution from day one.

Essential experience and capabilities:

Previous experience in trade counter sales, trade support, internal sales or customer service within building materials, hardware or a closely related industry.

Sound product knowledge across building materials, timber, hardware or construction-related products.

Demonstrated experience preparing customer quotations and processing sales orders.

Intermediate proficiency in ERP systems, including order entry, stock enquiries, pricing and customer account management.

Experience processing EFTPOS and cash transactions, including cash handling and reconciliation.

Strong administrative skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Confident communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage professionally with customers and suppliers.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

A proactive, solutions-focused approach to customer service and problem-solving.

Ability to work collaboratively with sales, warehouse, despatch and administration teams.

A reliable work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to take ownership of responsibilities.

Highly regarded:

Previous experience coordinating customer orders, site deliveries or transport requirements.

Knowledge of timber, doors, door hardware and general building products.

Experience working within a high-volume trade counter or building supplies environment.

Current forklift licence or previous warehouse experience.

Why Join Us?

Permanent, full-time employment with an established Western Australian business.

A varied role combining trade sales, administration, customer support and operations.

Work with an established customer base across the building and construction industry.

Supportive, team-focused environment where initiative and accountability are valued.

Opportunities to further develop your product knowledge, industry expertise and career.

What Success Looks Like

You understand that supporting trade customers is about more than answering enquiries or processing orders.

It's knowing your products, preparing accurate quotations, following through on commitments and ensuring customers have what they need, when they need it.

You're comfortable working with ERP systems, confident managing sales transactions and capable of juggling multiple priorities without compromising accuracy or service.

Most importantly, you take ownership, communicate clearly, support your team and understand the importance of getting things right the first time.
