About the role

We are seeking an experienced Occupational Physician to engage on a contractor basis to join our growing team. This role is ideal for a Occupational Physician, who enjoys working in a fast-paced setting and delivering a high standard of clinical care. You will play an important role in delivering Pre-Employment Health Assessments (PHAs) and Occupational Medical Assesments for our clients while contributing to Actevate's mission of transforming workplace health and wellbeing.

What you'll be doing:

- Conduct, review and provide medical sign-off for occupational health and pre-employment medical assessments.

- Undertake and review Rail Safety Worker medical assessments, including Category 1, 2 and 3 medicals.

- Conduct Fitness to Drive medical assessments in accordance with relevant Australian standards and guidelines.

- Review and provide medical oversight for hazardous substance health assessments and medical surveillance, including asbestos, silica and isocyanates.

- Interpret clinical findings, pathology results and relevant medical investigations.

- Assess medical fitness for work against relevant occupational, legislative and industry requirements.

- Prepare, review and finalise medical reports, recommendations and clinical documentation.

- Provide clinical guidance and support to the PHA team regarding complex medical presentations and assessment outcomes.

- Communicate effectively with candidates, clients and the Actevate team.

- Communicate to regional providers regarding referral requirements.

- Communicate verbally with employers about high-risk applicants.

- Ensure assessments are delivered in accordance with relevant clinical, privacy, health and safety requirements.

- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Actevate's health assessment services and processes.

What we're looking for:

To be successful in this role, you will have:





- A recognised medical degree and current registration with AHPRA as a medical practitioner.

- Experience in pre-employment medicals, occupational health, workplace health or health assessments.

- Knowledge and experience in rail medical assessments and the National Standard for Health Assessment of Rail Safety Workers.

- Experience with Fitness to Drive assessments and the relevant Austroads standards.

- Strong clinical assessment and documentation skills.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

- Strong attention to detail.

- Experience with functional capacity or physical assessments.

- Commitment to confidentiality and professional standards.

- A professional, approachable and candidate-focused manner.
