Join an established South Australian engineering business delivering complex fabrication projects across the Defence, Mining, Power and Water sectors. We are looking for an experienced Welding Inspector to join our Quality team, ensuring fabrication and welding activities meet high standards of quality, compliance and workmanship. This is a hands-on chance to work alongside experienced welding engineers, inspectors and production teams.

What you’ll be doing

- Conduct visual welding inspections across structural steel, pressure equipment, piping and complex fabrications.

- Verify compliance with welding procedures (WPS), engineering drawings, specifications and relevant standards.

- Complete Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), inspection records and quality documentation.

- Maintain weld traceability, material records and Objective Quality Evidence (OQE).

- Identify welding defects, manage non-conformances and support corrective actions.

- Work with production teams, customers and third-party inspectors to achieve quality outcomes.

What we’re looking for

- Recognised welding inspection qualification such as CSWIP 3.1, AWS-CWI, IWI-B/IWI-S or equivalent.

- Experience in welding inspection within heavy fabrication, manufacturing or pressure equipment environments.

- Knowledge of welding standards,



including AS/NZS 1554, AS 4458 and relevant international standards.

- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, welding specifications and technical documentation.

- Strong attention to detail, communication skills and a commitment to safety and quality.

Due to the nature of some of our Defence-related projects, applicants must:

- Be eligible to obtain and maintain the required Australian Government Security Clearance.

- Meet applicable Defence industry and export-control requirements.

- Be willing to undergo relevant security and background checks.

- Understand that Australian citizenship may be required for certain projects and security clearances.

Highly regarded

- Trade background in fabrication or welding.

- Experience with ISO 3834.2 welding quality requirements.

- Defence, naval shipbuilding or high-integrity fabrication experience.

- Experience with Lloyd’s Register requirements, NDT and Manufacturing Data Records.
