About the opportunity

Century Engineering is seeking an experienced AS 1796 Certificate 10 Welding Supervisor to join our Edinburgh North manufacturing team.

This hands-on technical and leadership role combines workshop supervision, welding procedure development and technical tender review. Working alongside welding engineers, inspectors and production teams, you’ll help deliver structural steel, pressure equipment, piping and high-integrity fabrications safely and to specification.

What you’ll be doing

- Lead and mentor welders and boilermakers to meet safety, quality and production targets.

- Develop and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and coordinate qualification testing.

- Review tender and contract requirements, identifying technical risks, capability gaps and welding qualification needs.

- Ensure welding complies with approved procedures, drawings, standards and customer specifications.

- Maintain welder qualifications, consumable controls, weld traceability and quality records.

- Coordinate inspections and NDT with Quality teams and third-party inspectors.

- Resolve welding issues, support corrective actions and improve productivity and workmanship.

What you’ll bring

- AS 1796 Certificate No. 10 – Welding Supervisor certification is essential.

- At least five years’ welding supervision experience in heavy fabrication, pressure equipment,



structural steel or industrial manufacturing.

- Demonstrated experience developing WPS/PQR documentation and coordinating procedure qualification testing.

- Experience reviewing technical specifications and assessing welding requirements during tender and contract reviews.

- Working knowledge of relevant standards, including AS 4458, AS 4037, AS/NZS 1554, ISO 9606, ISO 5817 and ISO 15614.

- Strong drawing interpretation, leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

Experience with AS/NZS ISO 3834.2, ISO 14731, Lloyd’s Register requirements, Defence manufacturing or naval shipbuilding will be highly regarded.

Due to the nature of some of our Defence-related projects, applicants must:

- Be eligible to obtain and maintain the required Australian Government Security Clearance.

- Meet applicable Defence industry and export-control requirements.

- Be willing to undergo relevant security and background checks.

- Understand that Australian citizenship may be required for certain projects and security clearances.
