Senior Field Automation TechnicianDarwin, NT | Industrial Automation & Operational Technology
Our client is seeking a Senior Field Automation Technician to support and deliver automation solutions across critical industrial and infrastructure environments.
This is a hands-on position suited to an experienced automation qualified who can confidently troubleshoot, modify, commission and support PLC and SCADA systems in live operational facilities.
Working across a diverse range of industrial sites, you will play a key role in maintaining system reliability, supporting operational teams and delivering automation upgrades and improvements.
Key Responsibilities
Provide advanced fault finding and troubleshooting of PLC, SCADA and HMI systemsModify, maintain and optimise control system softwareLead commissioning activities for recent installations, upgrades and system modificationsSupport plant operations through reactive and preventative maintenance activitiesInvestigate system performance issues and implement corrective actionsConfigure and troubleshoot industrial communications networks and field devicesPrepare technical documentation and reportsProvide technical guidance and mentoring to junior technicians and engineersLiaise directly with site personnel, maintenance teams and stakeholders
About You
You will be an experienced automation professional with a strong background supporting industrial control systems within operational environments.
Essential Skills & Experience




Significant experience in industrial automation, control systems or electrical/instrumentation environmentsStrong hands-on experience with:Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, Studio ****)Siemens PLCs (S7, TIA Portal)Citect SCADA / AVEVA Plant SCADADemonstrated PLC programming, troubleshooting and fault-finding capabilityExperience commissioning and supporting industrial automation systemsUnderstanding of industrial networking and communication protocols including Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus and ModbusAbility to work autonomously and lead technical activities in the field
Qualifications
Electrical Trade Certificate, Instrumentation Trade Certificate or equivalentCurrent Electrical Licence highly regardedCert IV Instrumentation & Control advantageousDiploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation or Automation Engineering highly regarded
