Alana Hersh Sewing Studio is looking for enthusiastic and reliable Sewing Instructors to join our growing team.We have a full summer of school holiday workshops ahead and we are looking for several capable sewists to help us deliver creative, welcoming and enjoyable classes.There may also be ongoing opportunities in our after-school children's and adult sewing classes.This position could suit university students, fashion or design students, teachers, recent graduates and experienced home sewists looking for rewarding creative work.Formal teaching qualifications are not essential.
Your sewing ability, creativity, reliability and ability to connect with students matter most.About the opportunitiesDepending on your skills and experience,



you may:Lead children's sewing classes or school holiday workshopsAssist in children's sewing classes or school holiday workshopsInstruct in selected adult classesDemonstrate sewing techniquesHelp students understand instructions and troubleshoot problemsSupport students working at different levelsPrepare materials and organise workstationsHelp keep the classroom safe, tidy and positiveSome applicants may start as an assistant and move into leading classes as their confidence and experience grow.About youWe would love to hear from you if you:Have solid practical sewing skillsAre confident using domestic sewing machinesAre patient, friendly and encouragingEnjoy working with children and young peopleCan explain techniques clearly, step by stepAre reliable and comfortable working in a teamStay calm and helpful in a busy classroomAre available for the summer school holiday periodTeaching or youth-work experience is helpful but not essential for assistant positions.Applicants must hold, or be willing and eligible to obtain, a Working with Children Check before starting child-related work.If you enjoy helping others discover the confidence and satisfaction that comes from sewing, we would love to hear from you.
