With an key compliance project underway, they are looking to add specialist employment tax capability to a broader team spanning payroll, finance, tax, HR and related functions.About the roleThis 12-month fixed-term contract is suited to an experienced employment tax professional who enjoys getting into the detail, solving complex problems and using their technical knowledge to solve real payroll and tax challenges.
Based in North Ryde, you will join a specialist project focused on reviewing the taxation and compliance of employee payments.
Rather than sitting purely within an advisory capacity, you will work across the business to understand how payments are being applied in practice, identify areas of risk and help establish appropriate and sustainable treatment going forward.
You will be reporting directly to the Project Lead and enjoy hybrid 2 days working from home.Key responsibilitiesReview a broad range of employee payments, allowances and deductions from an employment tax perspectiveApply your knowledge of FBT, payroll tax, PAYG withholding and superannuation to a variety of employee payment scenariosWork through complex or ambiguous tax matters and provide practical recommendationsConsider relevant awards and Enterprise Agreements when assessing payroll treatmentsHighlight areas requiring attention and help the project team work through suitable solutionsPartner with a diverse group of technical and operational stakeholders across the organisationApply your technical judgement to project findings and investigate matters requiring deeper considerationMake complex tax issues easier for the wider business to understand and act onContribute your expertise as identified issues move through to resolution andEnsure your analysis and recommendations are clearly captured and supportedIf you're an experienced employment tax or payroll compliance specialist looking to apply your technical expertise within a complex, high-impact project, we'd love to hear from you.About youYou are likely an experienced employment tax, payroll tax or payroll compliance professional who has worked within a complex corporate or advisory environment.
You enjoy technical work but can also step back and consider how recommendations will work operationally.
Importantly, you can communicate confidently with stakeholders outside of tax and explain complex issues in a straightforward way.
