Every year thousands of Australians choose their new home online before a slab is poured, and our software shows them what it will look like. Somebody has to decide what goes inside those homes. That is this job.
Builders like Metricon and Burbank send us their product lists. You group those products into the looks buyers choose from, apply them to house designs, and work with the builders' design teams as they review the results and ask for changes. Mostly interiors, furniture through to tapware, with some exterior work on facades, roofing and doors. You will not be doing any 3D modelling, other people build the models.
You do not need experience with our software, or with any software. If you can use Excel and find your way around a website, we will teach you the rest. No CAD, no 3D, no design qualification. Backgrounds that fit naturally include interior design or decorating, colour and selections consulting, building design or drafting, kitchen and bathroom design, homewares and display home styling, but none of them are required.
What you do need
- An eye for how a home comes together, so you can see when the colours are off or the pieces do not sit together
- Real care with detail, because the same decision gets applied across dozens of combinations and has to be right in all of them
- Explicit written English,
since you will be dealing with builders' design teams directly
- Some hours between 9am and 5pm Brisbane time, at least half of each week
About the hours, honestly. Our builders drive the workload, not us. Their work arrives in batches, so it averages around 10 hours a week, with busier and quieter stretches through the year and other administrative work filling the gaps. We give you a week's notice of what is coming, and within that week you choose when you work. It works best alongside family, study or another job rather than as your main income.
The details. Casual and ongoing. $40 to $50 an hour depending on experience, including casual loading, plus superannuation, which is around $450 in a typical week. Fully remote, no office, no travel, no set days. You need the right to work in Australia.
To apply, use the Apply button and include a short note. No cover letter needed. Tell us one thing you have done that involved keeping track of a lot of detail, where work, study, volunteering or running a household all count equally, what appeals to you about methodical work, and where you are based. Applications close Sunday 29 November. We reply to everyone, and shortlisted applicants are paid for a one-hour practical task.
