Position: Storeperson
Type: Full-time
Employer: ZHAOCHA PTY LTD trading as IGA Norris Park
Location: North Albury NSW 2640
Salary: $71,481 – $79,423 per annum plus superannuation
About the Business
ZHAOCHA PTY LTD trades as IGA Norris Park, an independent supermarket and multi-service retail outlet at 545 Union Road, North Albury, serving the households of Norris Park and Albury’s northern suburbs. Trading since 2019, the store combines a full-range grocery offer with a takeaway food counter, and its reputation rests on well-stocked shelves, fresh product and friendly local service. The business is run by its Director through a Retail Manager, a Marketing Officer and a Takeaway Manager, supported by cashiers, storepersons and takeaway staff in a close-knit team of twelve. It values reliability, accuracy and teamwork, keeps a safe and orderly workplace, and gives its people a steady, full-time position in a growing regional business.
About the Position
The Storeperson reports to the Retail Manager and is one of two storepersons responsible for the receiving dock, storeroom, coolroom and freezer that keep the shop floor and the takeaway counter supplied. Every delivery that comes through the door, whether dry grocery, chilled, frozen, fresh produce or takeaway supplies, passes through this role: checked against the order, recorded, stored correctly and moved to the floor when it is needed. Accurate receiving and stock control decide whether the shelves are full, the stock records are right and the store avoids waste and shrinkage,
so the position is central to the store’s daily trade.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive incoming deliveries from suppliers and the store’s grocery distributor, check goods against purchase orders and invoices for quantity, quality, temperature and damage, and report shortages and discrepancies to the Retail Manager
- Unload, unpack and store goods in the storeroom, coolroom and freezer, keeping chilled and frozen lines within cold-chain requirements and dry goods in their designated locations
- Record the receipt, movement and dispatch of goods in the store’s stock-control system and maintain accurate stock records
- Pick, assemble and move stock to the shop floor and the takeaway counter for replenishment, and prepare returns and credit claims for damaged, short-dated or incorrectly supplied goods
- Rotate stock on a first-in, first-out basis, check use-by and best-before dates, and remove out-of-date or damaged product in line with food safety requirements
- Carry out regular stock counts and stocktakes, investigate variances and report low-stock lines so orders can be placed in time
- Load and unload delivery vehicles and operate pallet jacks, trolleys and other manual handling equipment safely
- Keep the receiving dock, storeroom, coolroom and freezer clean, orderly and safe, manage waste and packaging, and comply with workplace health and safety and food safety procedures
- Liaise with delivery drivers, suppliers, cashiers and the takeaway team so stock arrives, is stored and reaches the floor without disruption to trade
Requirements
- Australian citizens and permanent residents are encouraged to apply.
- No formal qualification is required; a Certificate II or III in Warehousing Operations, Supply Chain Operations or Retail is well regarded.
- A minimum of one year of experience as a storeperson, or in a warehouse, stock-control or supermarket back-of-house role.
- Working knowledge of goods receiving and dispatch procedures, computerised stock-control systems and handheld scanners, stock rotation and date checking, cold-chain handling, and safe manual handling with pallet jacks and trolleys, together with a sound understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety obligations.
- Reliable and physically fit, able to lift, carry and stand for extended periods; accurate with a solid eye for detail; a clear communicator with suppliers, drivers and colleagues; a practical problem solver when a delivery is short or wrong; and available for early-morning deliveries and a rotating roster.
