Are you a seasoned Family Law Legal Assistant interested in taking on Paralegal responsibilities within your role? Our client, a wholly Australian-owned law firm, is seeking an experienced Legal Assistant with a background in Family Law to join their Melbourne team.
You’ll be supporting an Accredited Family Law Specialist and a Senior Associate, working on some of the most complex and high-profile family law matters in Australia, with a client base that includes high-net-worth individuals and international cases. These matters often involve multi-million-dollar settlements, complex trust and company structures, cross-border disputes, parenting arrangements, and international elements.
This is not a traditional Legal Assistant role. Each day will be different and see you undertaking a range of responsibilities which at times, will cross over into paralegal support, so if that's of interest to you, we encourage you to apply! Your duties would be including but not limited to:
- Managing deadlines, court appearances and mediations, along with general diary management and coordination of meetings;
- Preparation and review of a range of court documents, briefs and affidavit material;
- Preparation of correspondence, memos and file notes;
- Monthly billing and expense management;
- Liaising with court personnel, clients, and third parties to proceedings;
- Processing, sorting and distributing highly confidential documentation and information.
Who we’re looking for:
You’ll have at least 3 years’ experience as a Legal Assistant or Paralegal in Family Law or Litigation, with excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
