Job title: GPS Final Trim Excavator Operator (24T): Clay Capping, Bundaberg

Connect Resources QLD is looking for an experienced GPS Final Trim Excavator Operator for a clay capping project on a contaminated site in Bundaberg, starting Monday 9 November.

About the role
We’re after an operator with solid GPS experience to run a 24T excavator on a project placing a 500mm clay cap over a contaminated site. The cap and excavation levels change across the site, so you’ll need to be confident working to different design levels and trimming accurately to grade. Accuracy matters on this job, so we want someone who takes pride in a clean, exact finish.

Key responsibilities

- Operate a 24T excavator fitted with GPS machine control
- Excavate down to varying design levels across the site
- Place, spread, and trim the 500mm clay cap to the correct levels, with different cap levels in different areas
- Work from design surfaces and 3D models loaded in the GPS system, checking levels against the plans and surveyors’ marks
- Carry out final trim work to tight tolerances
- Work with dump trucks, rollers, and other plant to keep material moving
- Follow the site’s environmental management plan, including keeping contaminated and clean material separate and following decontamination procedures
- Complete daily pre-starts, basic maintenance, and fault reporting




- Follow all site safety, induction, and PPE requirements

About you

- Proven experience operating excavators with GPS machine control (Trimble, Topcon, or Leica)
- Experience in final trim and working to design levels
- Relevant RII excavator ticket or VOC
- Construction White Card
- Able to work accurately and independently, and comfortable working to a plan and with a survey crew
- Reliable, safety-focused, and comfortable working to site environmental controls

Desirable

- Previous experience on contaminated sites, capping, or remediation works
- Experience placing and trimming clay or other engineered fill
- Any additional site-specific tickets or inductions

- $49.24 to $52.00 per hour, plus penalties
