HR Advisor/Business Partner | 6-Month Contract
Centacare | Brisbane | Hybrid | Full-time

Love the variety of generalist HR? Enjoy being the person leaders call when things get tricky? This one’s for you.
At Centacare, we’re looking for an experienced HR Advisor/Business Partner to join our People & Culture team for six months. It’s a genuine generalist role for someone who likes being close to the work: partnering with leaders, giving clear advice, and then rolling up their sleeves to help get it done.
You’ll report to the General Manager – People & Culture and partner mainly with our Heads of Function and other leaders. Employee relations and industrial relations will be a big part of your week, alongside broader HR, organisational development and people initiatives.
If you’re an HRBP, HR Advisor or senior HR generalist who has built strong partnering skills but still enjoys the hands-on side of HR, we’d love to meet you.

About Centacare
Centacare is a non-profit community organisation that helps strengthen family and community relationships, especially where people are facing vulnerability and disadvantage.
Our services are open to everyone, regardless of religion, circumstance, ethnicity, economic situation, age, gender or ability. We aim to deliver professional, accountable services while empowering our clients to find their own solutions and reach their goals.

What the role really looks like
One day you might be guiding a leader through a complex employee relations matter. The next, you could be working through a performance concern, advising on an industrial relations matter, supporting a change process or contributing to a leadership development initiative.
That variety is a big part of the appeal.
What matters most is that you’re comfortable moving between advice and delivery. You can have a thoughtful conversation with a Head of Function, offer clear and pragmatic guidance, and then take ownership of the practical steps that move things forward.
To be upfront: this isn’t a purely strategic HRBP role. You’ll be in the detail, helping to deliver the outcome.

The difference you’ll make
You’ll help our leaders make confident, well-considered people decisions, while making sure our HR practices stay fair, consistent and aligned with legislation, industrial instruments, our policies and our values.
With ER and IR at the heart of the role,

you’ll bring the judgement and confidence to handle performance management, grievances, workplace concerns, investigations and disciplinary processes. You’ll also pitch in across the wider People & Culture team as priorities shift, helping deliver practical improvements for leaders and employees alike.

What you’ll be doing
No two days will be the same, but you can expect to:

- Partner with Heads of Function and other leaders on everyday and more complex people matters
- Provide practical advice and coaching on employee relations, performance, conduct, grievances and workplace concerns
- Manage ER matters end to end, from first advice through to documentation, meetings, outcomes and follow-up
- Advise on industrial relations, Awards, enterprise agreements, employment legislation and policy
- Support workplace investigations and disciplinary processes when needed
- Help leaders through organisational change, restructures and consultation
- Prepare clear, well-pitched HR correspondence, documentation and guidance
- Support workforce planning and broader generalist HR activity
- Contribute to leadership, capability, learning and organisational development initiatives
- Work closely with the wider P&C; team and step in on operational priorities as they come up

About you
You’re an experienced HR generalist who enjoys working alongside leaders and is just as happy advising and getting involved in the delivery. You’ll ideally bring:

- Solid experience as an HR Business Partner, HR Advisor or senior HR generalist in a reasonably complex organisation
- Strong, hands-on experience managing ER and IR matters
- Confidence interpreting employment legislation, contemporary Awards, enterprise agreements, policies and employment conditions
- Experience supporting performance management, grievances, investigations, disciplinary matters and organisational change
- The ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders while staying comfortable in the detail
- Strong written communication,

including clear HR correspondence and documentation
- Sound judgement and the ability to balance organisational, operational and employee needs
- A practical, responsive style, and a willingness to take ownership rather than advise and hand things on

Experience in Learning & Organisational Development, leadership development or capability building would be highly regarded, and a qualification in HR, Employee Relations, Business or a related field would be a bonus.
Above all, you’ll be someone who genuinely enjoys helping leaders work through real people challenges, and who’s happy to get involved wherever you’re needed.

Why you’ll enjoy working with us
This six-month contract is a chance to join a supportive, collaborative People & Culture team and make a real contribution, quickly, within a large, purpose-led organisation. You’ll also enjoy:

- Salary packaging: package up to $18,550 of your annual salary tax-free and boost your take-home pay
- Hybrid working: a flexible mix of office and home
- Flexible hours: some flexibility around start and finish times to help you balance work and life
- Training and development: keep growing your HR, ER and organisational development capability
- Employee Assistance Program: free, confidential counselling for you and your family
- Purpose: work that makes a real difference for individuals, families and communities across Queensland

Ready to make an impact?
If you love partnering with leaders, working through complex people matters and being part of the practical delivery, we’d love to hear from you.
Click Apply and send us your current resume, or for a confidential discussion, contact Andrew on 07 3367 6***. We’re looking forward to meeting you.
