About the Opportunity

Axxion Search is partnering with a major Australian food manufacturing business to recruit experienced Maintenance Fitters for its large, technologically advanced processing facility in the Toowoomba region.

This is an opportunity to join an established maintenance team working across a diverse range of industrial machinery, automated production equipment, mechanical systems and modern processing technology.

The business is currently looking to appoint multiple fitters to permanent positions, offering long-term stability, competitive EBA conditions and opportunities for further technical development.

The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you will be responsible for maintaining mechanical equipment and supporting reliable operation across a busy, large-scale manufacturing facility.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Mechanical fault finding, breakdown response and preventative maintenance.

- Maintaining and repairing conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes and production machinery.

- Diagnosing faults across hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems.

- Supporting maintenance and repairs across automated processing equipment.

- Fabricating and modifying replacement components, including the use of lathes and mills.

- Assisting with plant shutdowns, equipment upgrades and improvement projects.

- Working closely with production and maintenance teams to minimise downtime.

- Following safety procedures,



including isolation and LOTO requirements.

About You

We're interested in speaking with qualified Maintenance Fitters who have experience in industrial maintenance environments.

Ideally, you will bring:

- Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitting & Machining), or an equivalent recognised qualification.

- Industrial mechanical maintenance experience within manufacturing, FMCG, food processing or similar environments.

- Strong mechanical fault-finding and breakdown maintenance capabilities.

- Experience with conveyors, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulics and pneumatics.

- A practical, hands-on approach to maintenance and problem-solving.

- Solid safety awareness and the ability to work effectively within a production environment.

Experience with automated production systems, fabrication, machining or robotics would be particularly advantageous.

Previous experience in food processing is not essential. Fitters from other industrial manufacturing environments are encouraged to apply.

Roster and Remuneration

These are permanent, full-time positions working a Monday-to-Friday rotating roster, with shifts generally rotating on a weekly basis.





Shift times vary depending on the assigned area and roster, with examples including:

- Early shift: 4:30am–1:00pm.

- Day shift: 6:00am–2:30pm or 7:00am–3:30pm.

- Afternoon shift: 2:00pm–10:00pm.

- Night shift: 10:00pm–6:00am.

Rosters are generally provided approximately 10 weeks in advance.

Remuneration:

- Base hourly rates of approximately $45–$50, depending on experience and EBA classification.

- Afternoon shift loading of 15%.

- Night shift loading of 20%.

- Overtime paid in accordance with the enterprise agreement.

- Superannuation in addition to hourly remuneration.
