About the role

Glen Iris Childcare and Kindergarten is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Casual Educators to join our team in Glen Iris, VIC 3146. This is a casual position that offers flexibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on children's early learning and development. As a Casual Educator, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care, education, and support to children in our centre, working alongside our permanent staff to create a nurturing and stimulating environment. This position is perfect for educators seeking flexible work arrangements whilst maintaining their commitment to early childhood education and care.

Key responsibilities

- Providing safe, nurturing care and supervision for children in accordance with legislative requirements and centre policies

- Planning, implementing and evaluating age-appropriate learning activities that promote children's physical, social, emotional and cognitive development

- Supporting children's transitions and routines throughout the day, including meals, rest times and personal care

- Building positive relationships with children and their families, maintaining open communication and sharing observations of children's progress

- Maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic workplace, following health and safety protocols and duty of care responsibilities

- Collaborating with colleagues to ensure consistency of care practices and continuity of learning

- Responding to children's individual needs and interests, adapting activities and approaches to support diverse learners

- Contributing to a positive and inclusive centre culture that respects and celebrates diversity





- Maintaining accurate documentation and records as required by the centre and regulatory standards

What we're looking for

- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or willingness to obtain one prior to commencement

- Relevant qualifications in Early Childhood Education and Care (such as a Diploma or Certificate III/IV in Children's Services) or equivalent experience

- A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development and wellbeing

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues

- Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood education frameworks and best practice in childcare

- Physical ability to actively engage with children, including lifting, bending and participating in play-based activities

- Flexibility and adaptability to work across different age groups and respond to the varying needs of the centre

- A commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professional boundaries

- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)

- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to be on standby for casual shifts
