We are recruiting a Technical Sales Consultant to join a well-established Australian manufacturer supplying custom-designed solutions into the mining, resources and industrial sectors.

This is not a transactional product sales role. You’ll work closely with customers to understand their operational requirements, develop practical concepts and collaborate with internal engineering, design and production teams to turn opportunities into orders.

The Role

This is a consultative, solution-based technical sales position where you’ll work with customers across mining, manufacturing and heavy industry.

Your focus will be on understanding what the customer is trying to achieve, developing a suitable solution and coordinating with internal teams to bring that solution to life.

You’ll be responsible for:

- Developing new business and identifying sales opportunities
- Meeting customers onsite to understand their technical requirementsReading and interpreting drawings and specifications
- Developing basic concepts to communicate potential solutions




- Working alongside design and engineering teams on custom requirements
- Preparing and managing quotations
- Coordinating with engineering, design and production throughout the sales process

About You

You don’t need to be an engineer or qualified drafter, but you do need to be technically capable and comfortable discussing engineered products and solutions with customers .

Ideally, you’ll bring:

- Previous technical sales or solution sales experience
- Experience within mining, fabrication, manufacturing, engineering or a related technical industry
- Strong ability to read and understand technical drawings
- Some exposure to CAD or technical design software
- The ability to take a customer requirement and help develop a practical solution
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills

Rather than simply selling something off the shelf, you'll have conversations with customers about what they need, why they need it and how it can be designed or adapted to suit their application .

You’ll have the support of experienced engineering and production teams, as well as an extensive catalogue of existing designs that can often be adapted to meet customer requirements.
