RM - Longreach - Midwifery Group Practice (MGP)

Longreach Hospital is seeking a Registered Midwife to join its Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) on a three-week contract from 21 December 2026 to 10 January 2027. This is an on-call role based in Longreach, Queensland, offering the opportunity to deliver continuity-of-care midwifery in a model that prioritises relationship-based practice. The position is classified as Nurse Grade 6, with a 35% loading applied to the base rate in recognition of the MGP model's demands.

- Deliver caseload continuity of care within a midwifery group practice model
- 24/7 on-call availability with flexibility to respond to the needs of your caseload
- Three-week contract opportunity over the summer period in regional Queensland

Preferred Requirements

- Current registration as a Midwife with AHPRA




- Demonstrated experience in midwifery practice, with knowledge of caseload continuity of care models
- Ability to work flexibly on a 24/7 on-call basis and respond to clinical needs
- Strong communication and collaborative practice skills within a small team workplace
- Understanding of the MGP model and commitment to woman-centred, continuity-focused care

Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent qualification with current AHPRA registration
- Post-graduate qualification or experience in midwifery group practice or continuity of care models
- Current CPR and emergency management certification relevant to midwifery practice
