Why Smart?
Look forward to working with Australia’s leading and most trusted provider of Employee Management Services, making the benefits of salary packaging, novated leasing, and fleet management readily available to employers and their employees.
Working at Smartgroup offers more than a job. It is a dynamic workplace that matches the enthusiasm for the work you do and ambition for an exciting fast-paced career. We have all been hired for a purpose and a reason.
Every day you will be part of a team that helps support fellow Australians - many working in essential services, corporates, government, and not-for-profits - to take home more money in their pay packets.
About the role
We’re looking for a Product Owner, Client Experience to help shape how we solve complex problems for our clients across a broad B2B product landscape. Initially focused on our new Client Portal, you’ll explore opportunities across areas including client onboarding, reporting, data transfer, integrations and operational processes.
This is an opportunity to genuinely own the problem space, using product discovery to uncover what matters most, turn ambiguity into clear priorities and take valuable opportunities from early discovery through to delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead product discovery to uncover client problems, identify root causes and determine which opportunities are most valuable to pursue.
- Shape and prioritise a diverse opportunity pipeline across digital experiences, client workflows, reporting, data movement and integrations.
- Engage directly with clients and stakeholders, combining interviews, data and other evidence to test assumptions and inform product decisions.
- Take opportunities from zero to one, moving from problem discovery and validation into delivery without prematurely locking into a solution.
- Partner across Client, Operations and Technology teams to understand business needs,
technical constraints and the impact of potential solutions.
- Help establish effective product ways of working within a new cross-functional team, creating clarity and momentum in a complex environment.
Skills and experience
You’ll bring
- Strong experience in product-led discovery, with the ability to uncover meaningful customer or client problems rather than simply working from predetermined requirements.
- Demonstrated B2B product experience, ideally within complex environments involving multiple stakeholders, workflows, systems or data dependencies.
- Experience taking new products, capabilities or propositions from zero to one, working effectively when the answer or solution is not yet explicit.
- Excellent problem-framing and prioritisation skills, with the ability to compare different opportunities and focus investment on those with the strongest value and evidence.
- Confidence working with data, integrations and technical concepts such as APIs, data dependencies and system constraints, without needing to be an engineer or architect.
- Strong product judgement, curiosity and comfort with ambiguity, with the confidence to challenge requested solutions when the underlying problem or value case is unclear.
What’s in it for you? Smart team members enjoy a range of benefits designed to support flexibility, wellbeing, reward, and growth:
- Smart Leave, an additional week of leave each year
- Free lunch every week
- Up to 20 weeks Paid Parental Leave with superannuation contributions and a Return-to-Work Bonus
- Make a Difference Days – paid days off to volunteer for the community and environment
- Discounted retail vouchers
- Salary packaging and novated leasing benefits (of course!)
- Free flu vaccinations
- Employee Share Plan
Grow with Purpose At Smart, we’re driven by purpose and performance. We support individual and team growth via varied learning opportunities, open communication, and leaders who work to get the basics right – quality and regular one to ones, clear goals and success metrics, and growth conversations.
