International Women's Development Agency (IWDA)
Melbourne
Bring people, resources and movements together to advance feminist climate justice. Join IWDA as our next Feminist Climate Justice Program Manager.
About IWDA
International Women’s Development Agency (IWDA) is an Australian-based organisation, resourcing diverse women’s rights organisations (WROs) primarily in the Asia and the Pacific. We provide support that goes beyond money and contribute to global feminist movements to advance our vision of gender equality for all.
Our Vision: Gender equality for all
Our Purpose: To defend and advance the rights of women, girls and gender diverse people
Our Values: Feminist, Decolonial, Accountable, Collaborative, Transformative
We are committed to building a resilient and relevant feminist and decolonial organisation, and to becoming an explicitly anti-racist organisation. Anchored by lessons from our 40-year history and guided by fiercely held feminist and decolonial values, our Strategic Plan 2025 - 2035 lays out IWDA’s path towards realising our vision of gender equality for all.
Our strategic goals are to shift resources to women’s rights organisations, strengthen feminist movements, advance feminist and decolonial knowledge, and model a different way of being as a feminist organisation.
At IWDA, how we work is as important as what we do. Our 4S Framework guides us to step up and use our power to create change, stand with feminist movements in solidarity, step back when others are better placed to lead, and sit with uncertainty through deep listening and collective learning.
The Opportunity:
As the Feminist Climate Justice Program Manager, you'll lead the management of a grant-funded program and its Participatory Grant Mechanism (PGM), while serving as Secretariat to the Feminist Climate Collective (FeCC). You'll bring together your program and grant management expertise, relationship-building skills and experience coordinating coalitions, networks or collectives to support the Collective's growth, governance and impact.
Working across IWDA and the Collective, you'll connect opportunities with the right expertise, foster collaboration and mobilise resources and capabilities to strengthen collective action on feminist climate justice.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end management and delivery of the feminist climate justice program, including program planning, budgeting, financial monitoring, donor reporting and monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL).
- Manage the Participatory Grant Mechanism (PGM), including sub-grant processes, calls for proposals, proposal assessment, contracting, payments, compliance and ongoing monitoring, ensuring feminist funding principles guide how resources are distributed and managed.
- Serve as Secretariat to the Feminist Climate Collective (FeCC), supporting its coordination, governance and growth through relationship-building, inclusive participation, shared ownership and a culture of care and learning.
- Convene and coordinate Collective meetings, workshops and strategic initiatives, facilitating collaboration, supporting productive dialogue and ensuring agreed actions are progressed.
- Strengthen connections across Collective members and their funded initiatives, identifying opportunities for shared learning, collaboration, movement strengthening and collective advocacy.
- Coordinate and mobilise relevant specialist expertise and capabilities across IWDA to support the Collective's priorities and program-level goals.
- Support the Collective's external engagement, visibility and communications, and coordinate opportunities for members to participate in strategic movement-building and advocacy activities.
- Contribute to resource mobilisation initiatives and funding opportunities that support the sustainability and growth of feminist climate justice work.
Desired Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in program and grant management, including budgeting, donor reporting, sub-grant administration, contracting, compliance and monitoring, evaluation and learning.
- Experience supporting and coordinating coalitions, networks or collectives, including convening meetings and workshops, facilitating cooperative processes and providing Secretariat support.
- Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to cultivate trust, navigate diverse perspectives and foster collaboration across stakeholders.
- Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, navigate complexity and deliver quality outcomes both collaboratively and autonomously.
- A demonstrated commitment to feminist and decolonial values, with an understanding of feminist climate justice and how these principles can be embedded in program management, grant-making and collective processes.
Desirable
- Relevant lived experience, active connection and/or professional experience with feminist climate justice movements or women's rights organisations, particularly in Australia and the Pacific.
- Experience engaging and working collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
- Knowledge of feminist resourcing approaches, including participatory grant-making, feminist funding principles and other equity-based funding models.
A Little About You
You are a relational and collaborative leader who understands the power of collective action in advancing feminist climate justice. You bring the ability to connect people, resources and opportunities, while creating the conditions for diverse voices to contribute, collaborate and lead. You are comfortable balancing the practical demands of program and grant management with the relationship-building, coordination and stewardship needed to support a growing collective.
You will bring
- A strong commitment to feminist climate justice, with an understanding of how gender, power and systemic inequalities intersect with the climate crisis.
- A relationship-centered approach to leadership, with the ability to build trust, nurture partnerships and bring diverse people together around shared goals.
- The ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on program and grant management, taking initiative and accountability for delivering outcomes.
- Confidence facilitating collaborative processes, navigating different perspectives and supporting constructive dialogue, shared decision-making and collective accountability.

Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
IWDA uses a mechanism in the Equal Opportunity Act 2010 (Vic) called the “Special Measures Exception” which aims to advance substantive equality for marginalised groups. We accept applications from people with a gender identity that is adversely impacted by the patriarchy in terms of employment and leadership opportunities: women, non-binary, trans and gender diverse people.
IWDA uses the term “women” inclusively to refer to both trans and cis women. We welcome people with different skills, perspectives and life experiences, and particularly encourage First Nations women, women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, women with disabilities, women from migrant and refugee backgrounds, trans, non-binary and gender-diverse people to apply.
Preference will be given to First Nations and Pasifika applicants – recognising the importance of lived experience, connection to constituencies and movements and the critical leadership of First Nations and Pasifika women in feminist climate justice.
Safety, Safeguarding and Australian Work Rights
IWDA is committed to the safety and wellbeing of our staff and the children and other vulnerable people engaged in our programs. We have strong recruitment and safeguarding processes to support the selection of suitable candidates and maintain a safe and respectful workplace.
All applicants must be legally entitled to live and work in Australia. Any offer of employment will be subject to a National Police Check and endorsement of IWDA’s Safeguarding Code of Conduct.
The successful candidate will be expected to work from IWDA’s physical office in Naarm (Melbourne) at least two days per week, with flexibility supported through our hybrid working approach.
We look forward to hearing from people who share our commitment to gender equality, feminist movements and creating a more equitable and just world.
