ASP.NET Web Application Developer

About The Company

Dayne provides development and technical services in partnership with leading creative firms. The company brings together technology and creative expertise to deliver websites and applications for a variety of projects. At Dayne, team members can work across multiple assignments, contribute to practical digital solutions, and take on new technical challenges.

The company values stability, openness, professional growth, and a supportive approach to project delivery. Employees are encouraged to develop their skills through hands-on work and ongoing learning.

About The Role

Dayne is seeking a Junior ASP.NET Web Application Developer to join its Microsoft development group. In this role, you will build and support websites and web applications using Microsoft technologies. You will work concurrently on several projects, collaborating with the Technical Lead and Project Manager assigned to each engagement. The position calls for a dependable developer who can organize competing priorities, communicate progress, and contribute to a team-based delivery process.

You will participate in development from estimation through implementation and troubleshooting. The role may also involve related development tasks, such as preparing or refining HTML markup, when those tasks align with your experience. This opportunity is suited to a developer with a solid foundation in object-oriented programming and web development, and a willingness to work across projects and technologies.

Qualifications

Applicants should have a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. A minimum of two years of relevant experience is required, including experience with VB.NET and ASP.NET, the .NET 1.1 and 2.0 Frameworks, and Visual Studio 2003. Familiarity with ASP 3.0, Windows platform technologies, and SQL Server 2000 or SQL Server 2005 is also expected.

Candidates should be comfortable writing SQL and applying database normalization and optimization techniques. Working knowledge of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS is required, along with an understanding of object-oriented design and programming concepts. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities are essential. You should be able to manage multiple projects, provide realistic development estimates, communicate clearly, and work collaboratively with colleagues.

Additional experience with C#, web services, SOAP, Microsoft Content Management Server, CVS or Visual SourceSafe, and Adobe Photoshop 6 or 7 would be an asset. These skills are beneficial but are not substitutes for the core qualifications.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain websites and web applications using Microsoft technologies,

following project requirements and guidance from the Technical Lead or Project Manager. Contribute to multiple projects at the same time while tracking tasks, communicating dependencies, and maintaining focus on agreed priorities. Estimate the time required for development activities and raise potential risks or challenges promptly.

Investigate and resolve technical issues through a structured troubleshooting approach. Support related development work, including HTML markup, where appropriate to your skill set. Collaborate with project team members, share progress and relevant technical information, and help ensure work is completed to the expected standards. Participate in a technical assessment as part of the hiring process.

Benefits

Dayne offers a health, dental, and insurance plan, an Internet service provider allowance, and a budget for education and training. Team members can gain experience across different projects and technologies, with opportunities to grow through skill development and demonstrated effort. The position is based at the company’s head office in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Equal Prospect

Dayne welcomes applications from qualified candidates and is committed to providing a fair and respectful recruitment process. Applicants may be required to complete a technical test. Applications must be submitted electronically. We appreciate the interest of all candidates; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
