Kai Rho Contracting is seeking a FIFO Trainee Operator to join our operations team at Tropicana Gold Mine, located in Perth, WA 6000. This is a Contract position on a fly-in, fly-out (FIFO) basis, offering an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to launch a career in FIFO mining operations. As a Trainee Operator, you will work under the guidance of experienced operators to develop practical skills in plant and equipment operation within a dynamic mining environment. This role is integral to maintaining safe and productive operations at one of Australia's premier gold mining operations.
Key responsibilities
- Operating and monitoring mining plant and equipment under supervision and direction
- Conducting pre-start and routine equipment checks to ensure safe operational standards
- Assisting experienced operators with equipment maintenance tasks and daily operational procedures
- Maintaining accurate logbooks and operational records as required
- Following all safety protocols, procedures and standard operating procedures on site
- Communicating effectively with team members and supervisors regarding operational status and concerns
- Participating in toolbox meetings, safety briefings and training sessions
- Completing assigned training modules and certifications as part of the development programme
- Responding promptly to operational incidents and contributing to investigations where applicable
- Supporting the site team to achieve production targets whilst maintaining safety standards
What we're looking for
- A valid Heavy Rigid driver's license and willingness to work on a FIFO roster (typically 8 days on, 6 days off)
- A genuine interest in developing a career in mining operations
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety at all times
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take direction from supervisors
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Physical fitness and the ability to meet the physical demands of the role
- Willingness to obtain relevant certifications and undertake ongoing training
- A positive attitude and reliability in meeting attendance requirements
- Prior experience in mining operations, heavy equipment operation or similar industries is advantageous but not essential
- Relevant qualifications such as a white card (construction induction) or plant operator tickets are desirable
