About the role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Café Manager to join the team at Bernti's Mountain Inn in Thredbo, NSW. This is a full-time position that offers the perfect opportunity to lead and manage a vibrant café operation in one of Australia's premier mountain destinations. As Café Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of café operations, ensuring exceptional service delivery, and creating a welcoming environment for our guests. This role is integral to the success of our hospitality offering and plays a key part in delivering memorable experiences to visitors and locals alike.

Key responsibilities

- Oversee daily café operations, including opening and closing procedures, stock management, and cash handling

- Manage and train café staff, fostering a positive team culture and ensuring excellent customer service standards

- Monitor food and beverage quality, ensuring all items meet health, safety and quality standards

- Develop and implement café menus in collaboration with senior management, considering seasonal offerings and guest preferences

- Control costs through effective inventory management, supplier relationships and waste reduction initiatives

- Maintain compliance with food safety regulations, health codes and company policies

- Schedule staff efficiently to meet operational demands whilst managing labour costs

- Handle customer enquiries and complaints professionally, implementing solutions to enhance guest satisfaction

- Monitor café performance against budgets and key performance indicators,



reporting findings to management

- Liaise with other departments to ensure seamless integration of café services with broader inn operations

What we're looking for

- Proven experience as a Café Manager or similar hospitality management role in a busy, customer-focused environment

- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff

- Excellent customer service orientation with a commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences

- Solid understanding of food safety, hygiene standards and hospitality regulations

- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and café management software

- Demonstrated financial acumen, including budgeting, cost control and revenue management

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels

- Flexibility and reliability, with the ability to work variable hours including weekends and peak seasons

- Hospitality qualifications or relevant certifications are desirable

- Experience in a mountain resort or seasonal hospitality environment is advantageous
