Qualified Butcher / Apprentice Butcher - Full Time

Daly's IGA Fresh Marketplace Portland (part of the Metcash group) is seeking a motivated and reliable Qualified Butcher or Apprentice Butcher (preferably 2nd or 3rd year) to join our team on a full-time basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced butcher or an apprentice currently undertaking their apprenticeship, who is looking to further develop their skills within a busy supermarket environment.

About the Role:
As a key member of our Meat Department, you will be responsible for the preparation, presentation and merchandising of fresh meat products while ensuring the highest standards of quality, food safety and customer service are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

- Preparation, cutting, trimming and value-adding of meat products

- Product packaging, labelling and display presentation

- Maintaining attractive and fully stocked meat display cases

- Assisting customers with product selection and special requests

- Stock rotation and quality control to minimise waste

- Assisting with ordering, stock control and inventory management

- Maintaining accurate pricing and ticketing standards

- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements

- General cleaning and maintenance of the department





- Working collaboratively with the wider store team to deliver an excellent shopping experience

About You:

- A qualified butcher or currently undertaking a butchery apprenticeship

- Passionate about delivering quality products and customer service

- Reliable, motivated and able to work effectively within a team

- Experienced in meat preparation and merchandising practices (or willing to learn)

- Committed to maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene

- Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced retail environment

- Well presented with strong attention to detail
