Mahob at Moos is a café and restaurant located in Meeniyan, a small town in South Gippsland 2 hours' drive out from Melbourne, Victoria. We are looking for an experienced chef to join our small close knit and talented culinary team. This is a full-time position, offering the opportunity to work in a vibrant café restaurant workplace and to contribute in the creation of high-quality dishes.
Key responsibilities
- Menu planning & food preparation and cooking of meals to a high standard and to menu specifications
- Ensuring all food preparation and cooking processes adhere to food and safety regulations and monitoring quality of the preparation and presentation of the dishes prepared
- Understand and practice high level hygiene processes in food preparation, storage and cooking
- Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen environment
- Manage and oversee stock, costings, ordering and inventory control
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff and maintain consistency and efficiency
- Supporting our front of house team where needed
About you
- Proven experience as a chef in a busy café or restaurant environment
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a chef
- Diploma level qualification (mandatory)
- Strong culinary skills and a passion and understanding of food and love of creating high-quality meals
- Excellent time management, problem-solving and multitasking skills
- Can do attitude and an eye for detail
- Commitment to food safety and hygiene standards
- A team player that can work collaboratively as well as independently when needed
- Availability to work on weekends
