National Archives is seeking an Assistant Director to lead the team responsible for data storage services as part of the ICT Infrastructure section.

The Technology branch supports National Archives in meeting its vision and achieving its strategic goals, through the provision of ICT services, technology, infrastructure, software, cybersecurity and the governance of its information and data assets.

The ICT Infrastructure section is responsible for providing advice to National Archives’ management on the productive and effective use of technology and to enable National Archives staff through the provision and support of end user devices. The section also supports infrastructure relocation projects and is responsible for providing data storage infrastructure and managing its availability and capacity to meet business demands.

The Assistant Director Data Storage is responsible for providing strategic technical advice to senior management and stakeholders on the effective use, integration and advancement of relevant data storage technologies. The role also includes management oversight and provisioning of data storage solutions and back up platforms. The key duties of the position include:

Operating under broad direction the main duties of the role are to:

· Provide strategic technical advice to senior management and stakeholders on the effective use, integration and advancement of relevant data storage technologies.





· Manage and maintain National Archives’ Data Storage and Backup platforms.

· Oversee the identification and resolution of infrastructure incidents, ensuring effective incident management processes are in place and driving continuous improvement.

· Ensure system backups are performed, and restoration processes are tested regularly.

· Work in collaboration with other technical teams to develop, maintain and support National Archives’ ICT Infrastructure.

· Oversee the provision of Level 2 and Level 3 data storage support services, ensuring high-quality resolution of complex technical issues, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and providing strategic input into service delivery frameworks.

· Lead and influence IT projects and strategic improvement initiatives that enable enhanced business capabilities, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and fostering innovation across business areas.

· Oversee data storage health monitoring activities, ensuring comprehensive performance assessments are conducted and used to inform strategic decisions and continuous improvement initiatives.

· Lead the development and review of documentation, standard operating procedures and practices to ensure alignment with strategic objectives.



Oversee the implementation of work plans to drive team performance and outcomes.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance to Baseline Level.

Notes

Qualifications or experience in the following areas are desirable:

· Hitachi Content Platform

· Hitachi Network Attached Storage

· Hitachi RemoteOps

· Hitachi Virtual Storage Platform

· NetApp Storage Systems and Operation Systems

· Server Operating Systems from the Data Storage perspective (Windows, Linux)

· Configuration and Maintenance of Data Storage and Backup Systems

· At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in ICT data storage experience
