Hunger Kebab Pty Ltd trading as Metro Pita is looking for a talented, reliable cook to join our growing kitchen team. Located on George Street, Ultimo, just minutes from Central Station, Metro Pita is a dine-in Turkish restaurant established in 2017 known for its warm hospitality and authentic flavours. Our kitchen prepares traditional Turkish dishes fresh from scratch, including grilled skewer plates, steaks, biryani, seafood, hand-stretched pizza, Turkish pide, gozleme, snacks and desserts, served by our table-service team.

Key responsibilities

Prepare and cook Turkish style Adana, lamb and chicken

Make sauces (hummus, tahini, garlic yoghurt, aioli, chipotle) and salads (tabouli, Greek salad, etc.)

Create hand-stretched pizza, Turkish pide and gozleme from scratch

Cook biryani, with the ability to cook chicken, lamb and vegetable curry with basmati rice

Prepare all menu items including grill, salad, biryani, pide, pizza and gozleme

Work with the head chef to maintain up-to-date knowledge of recipes, procedures and plating for all menu, special and promotional items

Ensure kitchen equipment, utensils, food handling and meal preparation are performed in a hygienic and secure manner

Ensure food storage is appropriate,



hygienic and in accordance with health authority standards and relevant legislation

Manage stock ordering, stock control, and opening and closing tasks

Communicate effectively with kitchenhands, servers, managers and the head chef

About you

Minimum of 2 years' experience in a Turkish restaurant

Minimum of 2 years' experience as a pizza cook

Experience cooking biryani

Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment

Professional attitude and attention to detail

Food safety knowledge

Work authorization: Australia (required)

$80,000 per year plus superannuation
