Sydney | In-house opportunity | Growing investment management business

We're working with an established and growing global financial services business to recruit a Legal Counsel for its Sydney team.

This is an opportunity for a corporate, commercial or financial services lawyer to move into a varied in-house role within the investment management sector.

Our client works with Australian and international investment managers, providing the legal, regulatory and operational infrastructure that supports the establishment and ongoing management of investment funds.

The business operates in a sophisticated and highly regulated environment, with a broad range of legal matters and exposure to different investment managers, products and structures.

The role

Working as part of an experienced legal team, you'll advise on a range of corporate, commercial and financial services matters, including:

- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements
- Advising on funds management and financial services regulatory matters
- Assisting with fund establishment, investment structures and related documentation
- Providing legal advice on corporate and commercial transactions
- Working with internal stakeholders and external investment managers
- Supporting the business on new initiatives, products and commercial arrangements

The role offers the opportunity to develop a broad understanding of the investment management industry while working closely with the commercial side of the business.

Who are we looking for?





We're interested in speaking with lawyers who have a background in corporate, commercial, financial services or funds management law.

You might currently be working in the financial services or corporate team of a law firm and considering your first in-house move. Alternatively, you may already be working in-house and looking for a role offering greater variety and exposure.

Previous funds management experience would be advantageous, but isn't essential. We're equally interested in lawyers with strong corporate or commercial experience who are keen to develop their expertise in this sector.

You'll need good technical skills, commercial judgement and the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across the business.
