Brisbane
Boar Group is a Brisbane-based group of fire protection, HVAC and facilities businesses with technicians working across thousands of sites in Queensland — hospitals, shopping centres, schools, apartment towers. Behind the teams on site is a growing in-house technology function building the software that runs the group. We've reached the point where that needs a dedicated developer. That's you.
Your Role
You'll join as our first dedicated software developer, working on the internal platforms that keep a multi-business services group running. You'll work directly with the product owner and the leadership team, so you'll see the whole picture — how the work gets done on site and how that turns into what the business sees.
Day to day you will:
- Build current features across the stack — React front end, Node.js API, PostgreSQL database
- Build mobile applications.
- Turn ideas from the product owner into clear, well-scoped work
- Test what you build, properly, and fix what you find
- Keep the documentation up to date
- Learn to deploy and run the platform on AWS, with support and guard rails
- Spend time with the people who use it — our customers and internal staff — and bring what you learn back into the product
Our stack:
React + Vite, Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS (Sydney), GitHub. We use modern AI-assisted development tools day to day and you'll be set up with them from day one.
You don't need to know all of this already — you need to be someone who learns quickly and enjoys it.
Who we're looking for
- A recent graduate (or final-semester student) in computer science, software engineering, IT or similar
- You've built things — uni projects, side projects, anything you can show us. Projects count more than grades
- Comfortable with the basics: a programming language you know well, some SQL, git, how the web works
- You write clearly and ask good questions
- You're curious about how real businesses work and happy to get out and talk to the people on the ground
- Honest when you don't know something, and quick to go and find out
Career Progression
This is the first developer seat in a technology team that's growing. Do well and you become the person we build the team around.
Work Life Balance
Hybrid — a few days a week with the team in Brisbane, the rest from wherever you work best. Standard hours. We run real businesses and we value people who have a life outside of work.
Culture & Vibe
Practical, friendly and direct. Small team, no corporate layers, leadership you'll actually talk to every week. Our software has to work for technicians standing in a plant room, so we care about things that work over things that look clever.
