- $298,705) Lead public health across the Northern Territory Make a meaningful impact on the health and wellbeing of Territorians. NT Health is seeking an experienced public health medical specialist to provide strategic and operational leadership to the Centre for Disease Control (CDC). This is an prospect to lead communicable disease prevention and control across the Northern Territory (NT), influence public health strategy and contribute to Australia-wide discussions on emerging health challenges. Reporting directly to the Chief Health Officer, you'll work with senior government leaders, public health professionals and Australian agencies to protect and improve the health of communities across the Territory. Your

key responsibilities
will include:
• Providing strategic and operational leadership across the CDC and contributing to leadership within the Public Health Division.
• Managing Public Health Units across the NT, including recruitment, performance management, professional development and capacity building.
• Providing expert public health advice and strategic direction to senior NT Health executives, stakeholders and the Minister for Health through the Chief Health Officer and Chief Executive.




• Representing the Northern Territory on public health committees across Australia, including the Communicable Diseases Network Australia.
• Assuming the responsibilities of the NT's Chief Human Biosecurity Officer and providing coverage during Chief Health Officer absences.
• Supporting postgraduate education, supervision, epidemiological research and public health evaluation.
• Promoting a positive workplace culture and maintaining high standards of service quality, workplace health and safety. About you
• Eligible for registration as a medical practitioner in the Northern Territory.
• A specialist qualification in public health, such as Fellowship of the Australasian Faculty of Public Health Medicine.
• At least four years of full-time service in medical practice as a Staff Specialist.
• Significant knowledge and experience of communicable diseases, their transmission and outbreak control.
• Proven experience leading multiple teams, with strong administrative, interpersonal, organisational and data management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Australian and local agencies and individual stakeholders.
