Sydney

Who we are ? At Finder, our mission is simple: we help people win at money. We’re a global fintech crew with hubs in Sydney, New York, London and Wroclaw, and the independent research engine behind millions of better money decisions. We hire people who'd rather move fast and figure it out than wait for permission. The work is real, too: what you do actually changes what someone does with their money. If that sounds like your kind of problem, this is the seat for you.

About the role
Energy bills, NBN plans and phone launches hit every Australian household, and Finder is where people go to make sense of them. As our Tech & Utilities Editor, you’ll be the editorial lead and on-camera face for energy, broadband and mobile. You’ll own what we publish across site, video, social and email, and how it performs. This is a hands-on role with no direct reports. You’ll report to the Head of Publishing and work closely with the broader Finder crew. Who You Are You’re a journalist and editor with a steady stream of story ideas and a track record of consumer content that helps Australians make better decisions about their bills and connections. You know the beat: energy, broadband and mobile, plus green energy, regulation and the wider cost-of-living picture. You’re comfortable scripting, shooting and presenting to camera, and you know what works on each platform, from a 30-second short to a deep-dive guide. You keep the evergreen and news engine running smoothly, and you use the analytics to sharpen your strategy. Main responsibilities
• Acting as the subject matter expert and editorial lead for energy, broadband, mobile and related topics.
• Planning and owning the content slate: what gets made, for which platform and how often.
• Leading with video: scripting,

shooting and presenting across YouTube, short-form and social.
• Getting the most out of every story by packaging it across web page, video, social, email and spokesperson commentary.
• Moving fast on breaking news, price changes, trending conversations and media requests, and turning them into content while the moment is live.
• Owning the news schedule and writing consumer-focused news that lands across Finder’s channels.
• Bringing depth, voice and editorial judgement to our core evergreen guides: the perspective and authority that automated updates can’t provide.
• Owning the big moments of the year: major phone launches, NBN plan and speed changes, and the annual Default Market Offer energy reset.
• Using competitor, keyword and community insight (Reddit, forums, social) to find content gaps and spot topics before they peak.
• Finding ways to use AI and automation to work smarter.
• Acting as a Finder spokesperson in the media on tech and utilities stories. What success looks like Quarterly targets are set with the Head of Publishing. This role is measured on:
• Multi-platform views on your content;
• Organic traffic and revenue to your verticals. What we’re looking for
• 3+ years’ experience as a journalist or editor producing consumer-focused content.
• Knowledge of the Australian energy, broadband and mobile markets,

and the broader cost-of-living landscape.
• Proven video experience, including scripting, self-shooting and presenting on camera, with a portfolio to show for it.
• A body of published multi-platform work, including bylines, video, social and email.
• A solid grasp of SEO and keyword research, with content that ranks to show for it.
• Experience planning content across evergreen, news and reactive formats.
• A knack for breaking down complicated topics, like energy markets, the NBN, telco plans and regulatory change, into transparent, accurate messages for everyday Australians.
• Strong research skills and the confidence to get across unfamiliar topics quickly. What you’ll bring
• High standards. You want to produce the best tech and utilities content in Australia, and you sweat the details to get there.
• Fast on your feet. When a story breaks, you move. You don’t wait for permission. You ship, learn and adjust.
• Hungry to try new things. Content is changing fast, and you want to test new formats and push Finder’s growth, not just maintain what works.
• Collaborative. You give high-quality, constructive feedback to peers and partners, and you’re open to receiving it. Perks
• Free daily lunch in the office;
• 5 days of extra Life Leave each year for life’s big moments;
• Generous gender-neutral parental leave (up to 16 weeks in Australia).

How to apply
Send us your CV, along with:
• Required: a link to the one piece of content you’re most proud of, with a few lines on why you’ve selected it.
• Optional: a 60-second video of a tech or utilities story that Finder should cover next.
