About the Role
This is a hands-on sales role with a strong technical component. You will grow BJT's business in Australia by supporting and developing our distributors, winning new distributors and end-user customers, and keeping BJT machines running reliably in the field. As is common in the packaging machinery industry, you will combine commercial selling with machine installation, commissioning and repair, working closely with the Managing Director, who is himself active in both sales and service. This role suits a self-starter who takes initiative, owns their results, and enjoys building a market rather than simply maintaining one.
Key Responsibilities
1. Distributor Support and Development •Work closely with existing distributors to help them identify, approach and develop new end-user customers. •Support distributors with customer visits, machine installations, product demonstrations and technical assistance where required. 2. New Business Development •Identify, approach and establish relationships with new distributors and end-user customers. •Proactively pursue recent sales opportunities and build a strong pipeline of projects to deliver sales growth. 3. Inventory and Stock Management •Monitor inventory levels and maintain accurate demand forecasts to ensure stock availability and prevent shortages. •Coordinate inventory planning in line with sales forecasts, customer demand and upcoming projects. 4. Machine Installation and Technical Support •Assist with machine installation, commissioning, troubleshooting and repairs as required. •Provide timely technical support to distributors and customers to ensure reliable machine operation and customer satisfaction. 5.
Market and Competitor Analysis •Build and maintain knowledge of the packaging industry, market trends, customer needs and competitor activity. •Identify new market opportunities and provide insights to support business development and sales strategy. 6. Reporting and Pipeline Management •Submit weekly reports covering activities, customer visits, sales progress and key developments. •Maintain an up-to-date project pipeline, including potential customers, project status, estimated value and next steps. •Follow up proactively on open opportunities to move projects forward and achieve sales targets. About You Essential •Minimum 5 years' experience in B2B sales of packaging machinery, industrial equipment or capital equipment in Australia. •Proven track record of developing new customers and achieving sales targets. •Experience working with and through distributors or dealer networks. •Strong mechanical and/or electrical aptitude, with the ability to install, commission, troubleshoot and repair machinery. •Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision. •Clear written and verbal communication skills in English, including disciplined reporting. •Current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel interstate regularly. •Full Australian working rights. Desirable •Existing network among packaging distributors and end users (e.g. e-commerce fulfilment, third-party logistics, warehousing and manufacturing). •Trade qualification or tertiary qualification in mechanical, electrical or mechatronic engineering. •Experience with inventory planning and sales forecasting. •Familiarity with CRM tools for pipeline management.
