GT Painters and Decorators is seeking a skilled, reliable and experienced Painter and Decorator to join our team in Tasmania.

The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking painting and decorating works across residential and commercial projects, ensuring high-quality finishes, maintaining workplace safety and completing projects within specified timeframes.

This position is suited to a motivated tradesperson with strong technical painting skills, practical experience and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare surfaces for painting by sanding, scraping, filling cracks, repairing imperfections and applying primers.
- Apply paints, varnishes, stains and protective coatings to interior and exterior surfaces.
- Select, mix and prepare paints to achieve specified colours, textures and finishes.
- Use brushes, rollers, spray guns and other painting equipment effectively.
- Carry out painting and decorating works on walls, ceilings, doors, windows and other building surfaces.
- Assess surface conditions and determine appropriate preparation methods and painting materials.
- Protect furniture, fixtures, flooring and surrounding areas during painting activities.
- Ensure completed work meets quality standards, project specifications and customer expectations.




- Maintain painting tools, equipment and materials in positive working condition.
- Comply with workplace health and safety requirements, including safe use of equipment, chemicals and working at heights.
- Coordinate with supervisors, builders, contractors and other trades to ensure timely project completion.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe worksite.

Essential Requirements

- Relevant trade qualification in Painting and Decorating or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated experience in residential and/or commercial painting.
- Sound knowledge of surface preparation, paint application techniques and finishing methods.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, plans and specifications.
- Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail, reliability and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to travel to project sites, where required.
