About us

Tiimely is a platform technology company that has transformed how Australians access credit. Our proprietary technology automates financial assessment and credit decisioning, enabling faster, more accurate outcomes across a range of use cases, and is licensed by large banks, fintechs, and ASX-listed brands.

Headquartered in Adelaide with a national team of 100, we're on a mission to transform how Australians access credit through cutting-edge technology and a human-first approach. Our values are Time to be Human, Time to Take Responsibility, Time to be Transparent, and Time to Build Good Bonds and these values shape how we build products and how we work together.

The position

We're looking for a Test Engineering Lead to join our Engineering team, reporting to the Head of Engineering. You'll lead a team of Test Engineers and own how Tiimely verifies and validates its software, making sure what we build is the right thing, and that it works as a whole.

Our software depends on many moving parts, including our own modules, third-party APIs, partner integrations and cloud infrastructure. In this role you'll set the strategy for system integration testing (SIT) and define the verification and validation (V&V;) processes that show our software meets the requirements Product set. Your work is independent of the testing that engineers do on their own changes.

This is a hands-on, highly connected role. You'll sit between software development, quality and operations, working closely with the Engineering,, Product, Delivery, Architecture and Infrastructure teams. You'll lead through credibility, reviewing test plans and stepping into hard integration problems, while building a team whose judgement on quality is trusted.

Your other responsibilities will include:

- Set the V&V; approach and SIT strategy for the platform, and the wider test strategy across functional, non-functional, integration and exploratory testing.
- Define what "ready to release" means and the evidence needed to support it, and make release recommendations based on test evidence and coverage.
- Set standards for test planning, coverage, defect handling and documentation so quality does not depend on any one squad's approach.

- Agree with Engineering Team Leads where engineers' own testing ends and integration and system testing begins.
- Review requirements and acceptance criteria early with Product, and plan integration testing alongside delivery so test plans are ready when the work is.
- Focus effort on the highest-risk areas, including credit decisioning, partner integrations and regulated flows.
- Set the direction of our automation framework and CI/CD quality gates, and decide the right mix of end to end, integration and lower level automation.
- Define what integration test environments and test data need and agree with Infrastructure and Security who builds and runs them.
- Make sure performance, load and resilience testing is planned and run against our non-functional requirements and SLO targets.
- Track defect trends and production escape rates, lead review of defects that reach production, and support incident response.
- Provide test evidence and traceability to support audit and compliance activity, including ISO 27001, SOC 2 and CDR requirements.
- Give a clear and honest view of release quality, and raise risk early, including when it is unwelcome.
- Lead, coach and develop the Test Engineering team, plan capacity, and build depth so quality does not rely on any one person.
- Contribute to the Change Management Board and adhere to our Board approved Risk Appetite Statement and Risk Management Framework as they apply to testing and release decisions.

What We're Looking For

Required

- Demonstrated experience defining and running verification and validation (V&V;) processes in a software product environment.
- Demonstrated experience designing and leading system integration testing (SIT) across software modules, third-party APIs and infrastructure components.
- Experience designing risk-based test strategy for complex systems and setting quality standards that work across multiple delivery teams.

- Strong understanding of test automation, including UI end to end and API testing, with enough depth to set automation priorities and challenge a framework design.
- Experience with CI/CD quality gates, continuous testing along with coordinating test data and test environment needs with infrastructure teams.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring test engineers, and a genuine interest in developing their skills.
- The ability to stay a credible, hands-on contributor while leading a team.
- Experience working in Agile teams using tools such as Jira and Confluence.
- The confidence to give clear, honest quality advice to technical and non-technical stakeholders, including when it is unwelcome.

Desirable

- Experience in financial services, lending or credit assessment, or another regulated environment.
- Experience running independent verification of software against product requirements.
- Experience testing API-first and integration-heavy platforms, including partner integrations.
- Experience with Playwright, performance and load testing tools, and testing in an AWS setting.
- Experience supporting audits with test evidence, including ISO 27001, SOC 2 or CDR contexts.
- ISTQB certification, or equivalent demonstrated knowledge of recognised testing practice.
- Experience contributing to a Change Management Board or equivalent governance forum.

What's in it for you?

- Competitive remuneration package with employee share plans that reward individual and company success.
- Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid options.
- Ongoing learning and development to support your professional growth.
- A modern office environment designed for a scaling fintech.
- A supportive and inclusive team culture backed by our values-driven approach.

This role is based in Adelaide. We're looking for candidates who are based in, or open to working from, Adelaide, with full working rights in Australia. If this sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you. Even if you don't tick all the boxes, we encourage you to apply.

If you have any questions or need adjustments to our hiring process, please get in touch with Magdalena Szal at [email protected]
