About Expo Centric
Expo Centric is an Australian-based events and exhibitions company specialising in designing and building premium exhibition stands, custom displays, and innovative event solutions.
With 17 years of industry experience, we manage the entire process, from initial creative concept and design through to production, installation, and dismantling.
Operating across Sydney, Melbourne, and Perth, we're continuing to grow and are looking for talented professionals to join our team.
About the Opportunity
Are you an experienced Joinery Detailer who understands how custom structures are designed, manufactured, and assembled?
We're looking for a Senior Joinery Detailer – CAD & CNC to join our Sydney production team.
In this hands-on technical role, you'll transform approved designs into accurate, workshop-ready fabrication drawings and CNC files for custom exhibition stands, cabinetry, furniture, displays, and bespoke structures.
You'll work closely with our Production Design, fabrication, and workshop teams to ensure every component is practical to manufacture, efficient to assemble, and delivered to the highest standard.
You don't need exhibition industry experience to succeed in this role. We welcome candidates from custom joinery, cabinetmaking, furniture manufacturing, shopfitting, and commercial fit-outs.
What You'll Do
Technical Detailing & Fabrication Drawings
- Convert approved 3D designs and production drawings into detailed, manufacturing-ready drawings.
- Produce accurate shop drawings, assembly drawings, sections, component details, and exploded views.
- Detail custom cabinetry, reception counters, display units, furniture, timber structures, and exhibition stands.
- Specify appropriate construction methods, joinery details, hardware, fixings, and assembly requirements.
- Prepare cut lists, bills of materials, and component schedules where required.
CNC Preparation & Manufacturing
- Prepare CNC-ready files for cutting, routing, drilling, and machining timber and sheet materials.
- Develop accurate CNC nesting layouts to optimise material usage and minimise waste.
- Ensure drawings and CNC files reflect correct dimensions, materials, tolerances, and machining requirements.
- Work closely with CNC operators to resolve machining issues and improve fabrication efficiency.
- Apply practical knowledge of CNC machinery and manufacturing processes to produce buildable solutions.
Production Support & Quality
- Collaborate with Production Design, workshop, and installation teams to resolve technical and fabrication queries.
- Identify potential construction issues before manufacturing begins.
- Maintain accurate drawing documentation, file naming, and revision control.
- Independently manage multiple detailing packages and meet production deadlines.
- Contribute to improving standard joinery details, CNC processes, and fabrication workflows.
What We're Looking For
Essential Skills & Experience
- Ideally 5+ years of experience in joinery detailing, technical drafting, cabinetmaking design, shopfitting, or custom manufacturing. Candidates with fewer years but exceptional technical capability are also encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of custom timber joinery, cabinetry, fabrication methods, and assembly processes.
- Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
- Experience preparing CNC-ready files and working with CNC nesting/CAM software.
- Practical understanding of CNC machinery, machining processes, and manufacturing requirements.
- Solid knowledge of timber, MDF, plywood, laminates, veneers, hardware, and joinery construction methods.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and 3D models and translate them into fabrication-ready documentation.
- Excellent attention to detail,
problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
- Strong time management skills and the ability to deliver multiple projects within tight deadlines.
Highly Regarded
- Experience with Autodesk software, including Revit.
- Experience with Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, AlphaCAM, EnRoute, EzyNest, or similar software.
- Background in fine joinery, high-end cabinetry, commercial shopfitting, furniture manufacturing, or exhibition stands.
- Hands-on experience working with CNC operators, cabinetmakers, or fabrication workshops.
- Trade qualifications in cabinetmaking, joinery, or a related discipline.
- Experience preparing detailed construction documentation for complex custom projects.
