The opportunity
We're looking for a Workday Product Specialist to help us own, improve and evolve Workday as an enterprise platform at Minderoo Foundation.
This is a genuinely hands-on role. You'll be close to the platform and the people who use it - investigating issues, shaping solutions, configuring Workday where appropriate, testing changes and seeing outcomes through from discovery to stabilisation.
You'll work within a small, collaborative Technology team and partner closely with People, Payroll, delivery partners and other stakeholders across Minderoo. You'll have broad exposure and the opportunity to influence how Workday evolves and how we work, helping shape better ways of working across the platform and the organisation.
What you'll do
- Own day-to-day Workday product detail across requirements, solution design, configuration, testing, releases and continuous improvement.
- Configure and support Workday capabilities including business processes, security, calculated fields, validation logic, reports and dashboards.
- Diagnose complex platform, data and integration issues and coordinate the right people through to resolution.
- Support Workday integrations, including EIBs, Core Connectors and inbound and outbound data flows.
- Assess Workday releases and identify features that can improve employee experience, simplify processes or reduce manual work.
- Translate business needs into explicit requirements, options and pragmatic Workday solutions.
- Challenge prescribed solutions constructively, focusing on the business outcome and explaining options, constraints and trade-offs in plain language.
- Work with and manage expectations with stakeholders to maintain momentum when priorities, dependencies or requirements change.
- Work with external Workday partners and vendors while retaining internal ownership of outcomes and quality.
- Help shape the Workday roadmap as we continue to expand and optimise the platform, including new capabilities and emerging AI opportunities.
What success looks like
You're someone who enjoys getting into the detail and taking ownership. You can move comfortably between a stakeholder conversation and hands-on platform work, and you know when to solve something yourself, when to collaborate and when to bring in specialist support.
Our environment is collaborative and fast-moving. Priorities can shift, dependencies are real and not every problem arrives perfectly defined. You'll be comfortable creating structure from ambiguity, communicating constraints openly and finding practical ways to keep progress moving.
You'll also be able to respectfully challenge a request when there is a better, safer or simpler way to achieve the outcome - bringing stakeholders with you rather than simply saying that something cannot be done.
What you'll bring
Essential
- Demonstrated hands-on experience configuring and supporting Workday, with the ability to clearly distinguish the work you have personally performed from vendor- or team-led delivery.
- Practical experience with Workday business processes and related configuration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capability, with an ability to investigate root causes rather than rely on workarounds.
- Experience translating business needs into requirements, solution options and testable outcomes.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts simply and manage expectations constructively.
- Sound judgement and confidence working through ambiguity, competing priorities and dependencies in a small team.
- Experience supporting testing, releases and post-production stabilisation.
- An improvement mindset and a willingness to take ownership through to outcome.
Highly regarded
- Experience across Workday HCM, Recruiting, Absence, Learning or other associated modules.
- Workday security, calculated fields, reporting and dashboard experience.
- Experience with EIBs, Core Connectors or other Workday integrations.
- Exposure to Payroll and compliance-related processes.
- Workday certifications.
- Experience using Azure DevOps or similar delivery tooling.
Why Minderoo?
This is an opportunity to work across a broad Workday footprint and have a genuine say in what comes next. You'll be close to the roadmap, the stakeholders and the technology, with scope to improve existing services while helping introduce new Workday capabilities.
For someone who enjoys being hands-on, solving real problems and influencing how an enterprise platform creates value, the role offers unusual breadth and ownership within a purpose-led organisation.
