One ongoing full time vacancy is available

Apply your expertise in software development, high-performance computing and technical systems support to help deliver cutting-edge environmental monitoring and scientific programs across the Northern Territory.

- Develop software applications, databases, scripts and automated workflows that support large scale remote sensing, spatial analysis and environmental monitoring programs within a modern HighPerformance Computing (HPC) environment.
- Apply contemporary technologies, algorithms and data processing techniques to manage and analyse large spatial, imagery and scientific datasets, improving operational capability and scientific outcomes.
- Work closely with scientists and technical specialists to translate environmental monitoring requirements into practical software solutions, analytical tools and automated workflows.

Join the Remote Sensing Unit and help deliver the computing capability that underpins some of the Northern Territory's most significant environmental monitoring and scientific programs. Working at the intersection of high-performance computing, software development, spatial technologies and environmental science, you'll help deliver the software, automation and high-performance computing capabilities used to process and analyse large environmental datasets.

The Remote Sensing Unit collects, manages, analyses and disseminates remotely sensed data and UAV imagery, and operates critical systems that support environmental monitoring and scientific programs across the Northern Territory.

The Unit also manages and supports its High-Performance Computing (HPC) facility, which underpins environmental data processing, analysis and reporting activities.

As a High-Performance Computing Support Officer, your primary objective is to support and enhance the Unit's computing infrastructure, software applications, databases and automated workflows that enable environmental data processing, remote sensing and scientific analysis. You will contribute to the operation, maintenance and continuous improvement of the Unit's HPC environment and associated systems while supporting the systems and workflows used to deliver environmental information and monitoring programs

Your key duties will include developing and supporting software applications, databases, scripts and automated workflows; supporting HPC infrastructure and processing environments; assisting with the management and governance of large spatial, imagery and scientific datasets; and providing technical support and troubleshooting services to staff and stakeholders. You will also contribute to the evaluation and implementation of new technologies that improve operational capability, efficiency and data processing outcomes.

This role will make strong use of your industry experience and tertiary qualifications in information technology, computer science, software engineering,

remote sensing or a related discipline. Success in the role will be supported by your demonstrated ability to support complex technical systems, develop software solutions, manage data and work collaboratively with scientists, technical specialists and stakeholders.

In return, you will have the opportunity to contribute to some of the Northern Territory's most significant environmental monitoring and scientific programs, developing the software, dataprocessing workflows and computing platforms that underpin environmental monitoring, scientific analysis and regulatory assessments across the Territory.

If you reside outside of the NT, this is a great time to consider relocating. Reward yourself with an enviable lifestyle and work-life balance that allows you time to explore the Territory's stunning landscapes and natural attractions, enjoy colourful tropical sunsets and spectacular wet season skies, and experience the rich cultural heritage of the Top End. Darwin and Palmerston's vibrant multicultural communities offer an outstanding place to live, work and play.
