Infrastructure Engineers implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.

Key duties and responsibilities

· The Services, delivered in collaboration with and under supervision by nominated AFP

· personnel, include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Providing operational support and technical advice through the acquisition, development, deployment, installation and maintenance of systems for use in Mobile Radio and fixed site communications equipment;

· Maintenance of the mission critical AFP radio network;

· Management of the national radio system using technologies including P25 and WAVE;

· Support the uplift of radio and communications capability through enterprise program

· management activities;

· Support and provide advice on the planning and implementation of telecommunications devices, networks and systems such as voice, radio, P25 core, two-way, data, microwave, satellite and digital data systems;

· Support and assist AFP in commercial discussions with State Radio Networks and vendors; Issue and return of radios (controlled items) for BAU and special operations;

· Decommissioning of redundant radio sites; and Support and assist in the AFP management of encryption for all radio devices

· Support to operational vehicles and electronic items such as Digital Record of Interview

· (DROI).

· Assist in the design and implementation of radios systems in Pacific islands

· Assist in training of Pacific island technicians through mentoring and face to face delivery

· Providing operational support and technical advice through the acquisition, development, deployment, installation and maintenance of systems for use in Mobile Radio and fixed site communications equipment;





· Maintains and monitors network performance including investigating and resolving complex and system-wide network issues to meet operational requirements using a wide range of diagnostic tools and techniques;

· Engages with and influences stakeholders to ensure services and solutions are developed to meet agreed service levels and quality standards to address client needs;

· Undertakes contract management and procurement activities with State Radio Networks and vendors, including overseeing and measuring the fulfilment of contractual obligations;

· Supports day-to-day management, resource planning and work allocation within the team to meet agreed service levels;

· Monitors the external environment to gather intelligence on emerging technologies and

· evaluate the potential impact, threat and opportunities; and Contribute to the uplift of radio and communications capability through enterprise program

· management activities including identifying and exploiting current technologies and improving existing technologies, ensuring they are fit for purpose and fit for use within operational context.

· Work effectively in a small team environment;

· Provide knowledge/skills transfer to other teams; and Record and maintain files/information in accordance with AFP requirements
