The Opportunity
An exciting chance exists for an experienced Senior Cloud Engineer to join a high-performing defence technology team responsible for the ongoing evolution, implementation, and operation of a large-scale cloud platform.
This role will play a key part in shaping and supporting a modern cloud workplace, providing both hands-on technical expertise and technical leadership across cloud initiatives. Working within a collaborative team, you will lead the design, deployment, optimisation, and sustainment of secure, scalable Azure solutions while driving DevOps best practices and continuous improvement.
As a senior member of the team, you will act as a Technical Lead, mentoring engineers, influencing cloud strategy, and ensuring cloud services align with business objectives, security requirements, and operational excellence standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Act as the technical lead for the deployment, operation, and ongoing enhancement of enterprise Azure cloud environments.
- Collaborate with architects and key stakeholders to design cloud solutions aligned with broader technology strategies and business objectives.
- Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and resilient Azure infrastructure and cloud-native services.
- Implement and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform and other automation frameworks.
- Leverage DevOps practices to deploy, operate, support, and optimise cloud platforms and solutions.
- Provide advanced troubleshooting and incident response for complex cloud operational issues.
- Partner with security, networking, and application teams to ensure seamless cloud service integration and support.
- Ensure cloud environments remain compliant with security standards, regulatory requirements, and organisational governance frameworks.




- Implement cloud cost management and optimisation initiatives to maximise platform efficiency.
- Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, architecture designs, and operational procedures.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across cloud platforms and engineering practices.
- Mentor and support team members, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
- Provide technical thought leadership on emerging cloud technologies, innovation, and best practices.

You are a highly capable cloud professional with strong Azure expertise, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a passion for building modern cloud platforms. You enjoy taking ownership of complex technical challenges while providing leadership and guidance to engineering teams.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Deep technical expertise across Microsoft Azure Infrastructure.
- Proven experience designing, deploying, and managing enterprise Azure environments.
- Strong experience with Microsoft Entra ID and Microsoft 365 technologies.
- Hands-on experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) solutions using Terraform.
- Experience developing and deploying infrastructure and applications through automation and DevOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of Azure Landing Zones and the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework.
- Experience delivering cloud migration projects and implementing cloud-native architectures.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, governance, security baselines,



and posture management within regulated environments.
- Advanced PowerShell scripting capabilities.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience working within complex enterprise environments.
