- Unique $35M civil infrastructure project on Christmas Island
- Exposure across design, engineering & construction delivery
- Flights, accommodation, transport + remote project allowance
Looking for a project that’s a little different from the standard metro build?
This is a unique opportunity for a Project Coordinator, Site Engineer or Project Engineer to join a civil infrastructure project on Christmas Island, supporting delivery from investigation and design through to construction.
It’s a broad, hands-on role where you’ll work closely with project leadership and gain exposure across engineering, site coordination, subcontractor management, contracts and stakeholder engagement.
The Project
The project is currently progressing through an approximately $10M investigation and design phase, ahead of an anticipated $35M construction phase.
You’ll initially be based on Christmas Island from approximately late January/February through to May, working alongside the Project Manager, Site Manager, consultants, client and subcontractors.
The initial arrangement is expected to be approximately 8 weeks on site, up to 1–2 weeks home, followed by a further 8 weeks on site.
Following this phase, there may be an opportunity to continue supporting design coordination, procurement and construction planning in Australia before potentially returning to Christmas Island when construction commences around September/October.
What You'll Be Doing
No two days will look exactly the same. You'll be supporting the team across:
- Site investigations, engineering and design coordination
- Client, consultant and subcontractor engagement
- QA, WHS and environmental requirements
- Project reporting, progress tracking and controls
- Payment claims and contracts administration
- Procurement and construction planning
As the project moves into construction, the role will transition toward a more traditional Site Engineer / Project Engineer function, with greater involvement in construction delivery and subcontractor management.
About You
You may currently be a Project Coordinator, Site Engineer or Project Engineer with experience across civil infrastructure, water or similar construction projects.
You don't need to tick every box. We're looking for someone who is adaptable, practical and comfortable taking ownership in a remote project environment.
Experience on remote, regional, Defence or government-funded projects would be highly regarded, but isn't essential.
What's In It For You?
- Work on a genuinely unique Christmas Island infrastructure project
- Exposure across both design and construction
- Broaden your experience across engineering, contracts and project delivery and logistics
- Work closely with senior project leadership and client stakeholders
- Flights, accommodation and local project transport provided
- Site uplift and/or remote project allowance, based on experience
- Potential to remain involved through the $35M construction phase
If you're looking for something outside the ordinary and want the prospect to gain hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of a challenging infrastructure project, we'd love to hear from you.
