Cooma District Hospital is seeking a Registered Midwife to join the Maternity Ward on a contract basis from 9 November to 19 December 2026 (approximately 6 weeks). This is an chance to work across the full spectrum of maternity care in a regional NSW setting, providing antenatal, postnatal, and labour ward support. You'll work as the lead midwife on shift with two MGP midwives available on call for backup, bringing your expertise to a busy maternity service serving the local community.
- Lead maternity care across antenatal, postnatal, and labour ward settings
- Work as the primary midwife on shift with on-call MGP support available
- Fixed-term contract, 6 weeks, based at Cooma District Hospital
Preferred Requirements
- Current registration as a Registered Midwife with AHPRA
- Demonstrated experience in antenatal care, labour ward management, and postnatal support
- Competence in midwifery assessment, care planning, and clinical decision-making
- Ability to work autonomously and communicate effectively with on-call backup teams
- Current knowledge of relevant clinical guidelines and best practice in maternity care
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Midwifery or equivalent qualification recognised by AHPRA
- Current CPR and emergency resuscitation certification
- Experience working in regional or rural maternity settings is advantageous
