We are looking for Microsoft Cloud Security Specialist to report to the Cyber Architecture & Engineering Manager. You will be responsible for the design, implementation, configuration and continuous improvement of security controls across the Microsoft cloud setting.

The role provides specialist technical expertise across Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Purview, Microsoft Defender and Microsoft 365 services, ensuring cloud security capabilities are configured appropriately to protect identities, devices and organisational information.

The Microsoft Cloud Security Specialist works closely with Cyber Security, Cloud, Infrastructure and Architecture teams to implement security controls that support organisational risk, compliance and security requirements. The role also provides technical leadership in identifying security gaps, improving Microsoft cloud security capabilities and ensuring security configurations remain aligned with organisational standards and industry best practice.

Core Duties

- Design, implement and maintain Microsoft Entra ID security controls, including Conditional Access, authentication policies, MFA, Enterprise Applications, application registrations, OpenID Connect/OAuth configurations and identity protection controls.
- Implement and maintain Microsoft Entra Identity Governance capabilities, including access reviews, entitlement management, privileged access controls and governance of internal and external identities.
- Configure and enhance Microsoft Purview security capabilities, including Data Loss Prevention, Endpoint DLP, information protection, sensitivity labels and associated data protection controls.




- Manage and optimise Microsoft Defender for Identity, including identity security posture, threat detection capabilities, security recommendations and integration with the broader Microsoft security ecosystem.
- Provide security engineering expertise for Exchange Online and SharePoint Online, including access controls, external collaboration, sharing controls, information protection and security configuration.
- Assess Microsoft cloud security configurations and identify security gaps, vulnerabilities and control weaknesses, providing practical recommendations and implementing appropriate remediation.
- Develop and maintain secure configuration standards, technical patterns and security baselines for Microsoft cloud technologies.
- Provide technical security advice to Cloud, Infrastructure, Architecture and project delivery teams to ensure Microsoft cloud services are securely designed, configured and implemented.
- Support security assurance and compliance activities by providing technical evidence, configuration analysis and remediation support against applicable security standards and organisational requirements.
- As a senior technical specialist, mentor team members and provide subject matter expertise in Microsoft cloud and identity security.

Please note: candidates must have a minimum baseline government security clearance. Preferred candidates will have NV1 clearance.
