Western Projects is seeking an experienced Commercial Construction Estimator to join our growing team in a combined estimating and procurement role.

This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the estimating process but also wants to be involved beyond tender award, managing subcontractor procurement and working closely with our Project Management team.

The role offers a balance of estimating and procurement responsibilities across multiple commercial construction projects, ranging in value from 500k to 20m, making it ideal for someone who enjoys variety, can manage competing priorities and thrives in a collaborative environment.

About the Role

Working closely with our General Manager, Senior Estimator and Project Managers, you'll be responsible for preparing competitive tenders and coordinating subcontractor procurement across multiple projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Preparing detailed cost estimates, tender submissions and quotations for commercial construction projects.

- Interpreting drawings, specifications and tender documentation to establish project scope and requirements.

- Preparing trade packages, issuing RFQs and evaluating subcontractor quotations.

- Undertaking quantity take-offs, cost planning and pricing assessments.

- Identifying project risks, opportunities and potential cost efficiencies.

- Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers and consultants throughout the tender process

- Managing subcontractor procurement across multiple projects following tender award.

- Preparing trade comparisons, negotiating pricing and making subcontractor recommendations.

- Interpreting drawings, specifications and tender documentation to prepare subcontract scope of works.

- Preparing and issuing subcontract agreements, purchase orders and associated documentation.

- Working closely with Project Managers to coordinate procurement requirements and meet project programmes.

- Monitoring procurement progress, budgets and subcontractor commitments.

- Maintaining strong working relationships with subcontractors,



suppliers and project teams.

- Providing ongoing subcontract financial administration support throughout project delivery.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Estimator with a solid understanding of commercial construction who is confident managing tenders and enjoys working collaboratively with project teams.

Ideally, you'll bring:

- Minimum 2–3 years' experience in estimating within the commercial construction industry.

- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials, subcontractor trades and pricing.

- Experience preparing detailed estimates and managing competitive tender submissions.

- An understanding of subcontractor procurement and contract administration processes.

- The ability to manage multiple tenders and project procurement requirements simultaneously.

- Strong communication, negotiation and relationship management skills.

- Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

- A proactive, practical approach to problem-solving.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

- Experience with Procore would be advantageous.

- Relevant construction qualifications or a trade background would be beneficial.
